The United Churcht'tn Port Perry was the setting of a beautiful fall wedding on September 18, 1982 for Kelly Anne St. John, Port Perry and Edward David Olsen, Prince Albert. Rev. G. Jack- son and Rev. Jack Griffen (Uncle of the bride) officiat- ed the double ring ceremony. The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wes St. John, Port Perry. The bridegroom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olsen of Prince Albert. Given in marriage by her Father and Mother, the bride wore a lovely gown of white satin underskirt with chiffon sleeves, overskirt and blou- sin bodice. Fine lace and pink ribbon accented the sleeves and yoke. Tiny seed pearls and lace highlighted her hat. She carried a white lace fan with a tiny white Bible inserted amongst burgandy roses, pink baby's breath and stephenotis. Lorie Kerr, friend of the bride was maid of honour. Bridesmaids were Lisa St John, sister of the bride, Deanna Griffen, cousin of the bride and Janis St John, sister-in-law of the bride. They wore dusty rose cock- tail length dresses with _ matching chiffon capes. They carried bouquets of gardenias "accented with ribbon. Juwain St John, niece of the bride was flower girl, she wore a short white satin dress with pink smock- ing around neckline. She carried a small white basket containing memorable lettérs that Ed and Kelly had written to each other during the four years he attended university. Tom Olsen, brother of the groom was the best man, ushers were Bill St John, brother of the bride, Steve Jones and Ken Chisholm, friends of the groom, they wore black tuxedo's with matching velvet ascot ties. All wore boutonnieres of car- nations. Mother of the bride ¢hose a cocktail length burgandy chiffon dress with matching Olsen - St.John corsage and the groom's mother wore a cocktail length dress with matching jacket in a grape shade with a corsage to match. The wedding music was played by Irwin Smith and the songs 'Endless Love' and 'Wedding Song', and 'My Friend' were sung beauti- fully by Miss Lea Dowson (friend of the bride). The song 'My Friend' was sung by Irwin as their first dance so it became a meaningful theme song for the wedding. The reception was held at the Legion Hall in Port Perry and Mr. Bill Chamberlain was Master of Ceremonies. The happy couple honey- mooned in the Jasper, Banff area, before residing in Oshawa. SHOWERS Prior to the wedding of Kelly Anne St John and Edward David Olsen, Kelly was entertained with several showers. . The Explorers had a Mis- cellaneous shower given by Gail Williamson and Mar- lene Moore. Hed"? A miscellaneous shower was given by Janis St John, Deanna Griffen and Lisa St John. Family dinner and pres- entation given by Jean and Ken Skerratt. A Jack and Jill shower was hosted by Sheila, Helen and Joe O'Reilly. A miscellaneous shower given by Mrs. Mary Fox, Prince Albert. A small appliance shower was held at the home of Mrs. Patti Norish, Oshawa. A miscellaneous shower was given by Mrs. Jennifer Malcolm. A Pantry shower was host- ed by Mrs. Neila Skerratt. Mr. and Mrs. Art Olsen hosted a Jack and Jill shower presenting them with a gas barbecue. A Money tree was present- ed to the bride and groom at Bruce and Marie Woodrows. Mr. Tom Olsen held a stag for the groom on August 20. The Bank staff gave a bathroom shower hosted by Mrs. Grace Pargeter. Rev. Douglas Sherwood officiated at the afternoon ceremony, which was attended by 250 guests. Mrs. Iona McIntosh played the organ, accompanying Mrs. D'Arcy Kowtecky, who sang 'Holy Spirit, Thou Art Welcome' before the cere- mony, 'My Tribute' to the couple, as well as 'Wedding Hymn' and 'The Gift of Love' during the signing of the register. The church was decorated with bouquets of pink glad- ioli, pink and white car- nations, and Boston ferns. Two candleabra, laced with greens and a white ribbon, framed the altar; and arrangements of miniature pink carnations and baby's breath decorated the pews. The bride, who was escort- ed down the aisle by her father, wore a flowing gown in chiffonella, which was' beautifully worked in both alencon lace and Swiss embroidery. Around the Queen Anne neckline, sleeves and skirt, were clusters of hand-sewn seed pearls and irridescent sequins. In the centre of the bodice and bishop sleeves was a cameo of embroidery. The hem of the gown was trimmed with scalloped embroidered lace, which fell into a double row of crystal: pleating at the base of the train. To complement the gown, Tracy wore a matching embroidered headpiece, which also had sprinkles of pearls and sequins. The cathedral veil was edged with matching scalloped allencon lace. She also wore a single cultured pearl neck- lace, a gift from her mat- ernal grandmother. The bride carried a cas- cade of pink roses, white carnations, stephanotis and baby's breath. Carol Benson of Grimsby, a friend of the bride, acted as maid of honor. Three other friends, Susan Adolph of Mississauga, Nancy Dyty- nyshyn of Chicago (formerly of Grimsby), and Louise Mc- Quillan of Waterloo, were ETS AT [i Nelson - Sipos bridesmaids. Suzanne Lynch, another bridesmaid, was unable to attend because of a sporting accident. They wore dresses in shell pink jersey. The bodice was a Grecian style with open neck and split sleeves. The skirts were sunburst pleated with a small self-tie belt. The bridesmaids carried nose- gay bouquets in shades of pink, purple, mauve and white, with baby's breath. Matching flowers were worn in their hair. Bill Thompson of London, friend of the bridegroom, acted as best man. Charles Nelson of Lethbridge, Alta., brother of the groom; John Sipos of Grimsby, brother of the bride; and David Dyty- nyshyn of Chicago and Derek Johnstone of Toronto, friends of the groom, were ushers. Friends attended from as far away as Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Port Perry. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Holiday Inn, St. Catherines. The bride- groom's mother wore a rose gown with matching jacket, accented by a white cattleya orchid. The couple spent their honeymoon in Jamaica, and now reside in Waterloo. Before the wedding, showers were given for the bride by bridesmaids Louise McQuillan and Carol Ben- son, Mrs. Viola Cook of Grimsby, bridesmaid Susan Adolph of Mississauga, Mrs. Kay Walker of Port Perry, and Mrs. R.G. Wood of Grim- sby. 'Jack and Jill' showers were given for the couple by Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Mel- bourne and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Davis of Grimsby, as well as Mr. and Mrs. Gary Stairs of Waterloo. Both the bride and groom are Honors Science grad- uates of the University of Waterloo. The groom is now completing his Masters of Science degree at Waterloo. The bride is teaching for the Waterloo County Board of Education.
