I wonder if the little folks here know there is a Christmas story about Cedar Creek and how it helped Santa one Christmas long ago. Once, many, many years ago, Cedar Creek was bigger than it is now, not the size of a river but it was a happy bubbling stream that loved having the animals and birds coming for cool drinks in summer and in winter it was delighted to have the children who lived around it come to skate. It was frozen over except for one spot and that was right at the bridge at the bottom of Cedar Creek Hill. No one understood why the water never froze here but you see the little creek had a dream that one Christmas Santa might stop to let his reindeer drink. Of course, Santa usually stopp- ed at one of the really big lakes or rivers because from high in the sky it was almost impossible to see such a litile stream. But one particular AES DUD NOSSEY 37% #4 aA 2] PIRES Tox RF VEO NAR PRVIFR ATES could. It ran under the bridge as fast as it could. Now by the end of December the little creek was very very tired from all that running and jumping, nevertheless, it managed to keep a little spot open with no ice until Christmas eve when Santa would be on his way. Sure enough Santa had started south, but he noticed some- thing peculiar, all the lakes and rivers were covered in ice. Santa was worried, if Dancer and Prancer and the other teindeer could not stop to drink they would be too thirsty to go on and lots of little boys and girls would be very disappointed. Santa whistled to Rudolph and said in his big voice "rudy, shine that nose of yours down to- EF BAR Sk LT wards ground'. Rudolph did and there below Santa could barely see a little bridge with a little patch of open water. Down went Santa and his team. Now when little Cedar Creek heard bells and the snorting reindeer it nearly bubbled over the bridge, it was so excited and happy, its dream had come true, Santa had stopped this year. The reindeer all had a big drink and Santa got back on the sleigh. Just before he pulled away he said "Thank You little Cedar Creek you helped save Christmas for lots of little children and I will stop here from now on for you are such a dependable and happy little creek". Merry Christmas, he called as he flew up and away. Seasons Greetings What better time of year for us to say Thank You & Happy Holidays to all our volunteers, _over the stones as high as it December it was cold, oh so very cold, why the children couldn't poke their noses out their doors so they certainly couldn't go to skate. Now little Cedar Creek was sad about that but it had another problem too. It had to keep the ice off that spot at the bridge at least until Christmas day.
