Once, many, many years ago, Cedar Creek was bigger than it is now, not the size of a river but it was a happy bubbling stream that loved having the animals and birds coming for cool drinks in summer and in winter it was delighted to have the children who lived around it come to skate. It was frozen over except for one spot and that was right at the bridge at the bottom of Cedar Creek Hill. No one understood why the water never froze here but you see the little creek had a dream that one Christmas Santa might stop to let his reindeer drink. Of course, Santa usually stopp- ed at one of the really big lakes or rivers because from high in the sky it was almost impossible to see such a litile stream. Now by the end of December the little creek was very very tired from all that running and jumping, nevertheless, it managed to keep a little spot open with no ice until Christmas eve when Santa would be on his way.
