November 23, 1982 Seniorcitizens plan outings Our meeting closed with the Mizpah Benediction after which Marion King recited In Flanders Fields and led in an Armistice Day Prayer. On Wednesday November 17, we held a Pot-Luck supper in honour of our 20th Anniver- sary of Senior Citizen's Club 101. Ernie Healy gave an outline of the starting of our club twenty years ago, first in Jessie Robertson's home, then in the building behind the Post Office, and then Mr. Lat- cham's building, our present Latcham Centre. After a lovely dinner, Earl and Jean Martyn showed their slides of Alaska and the Yukon. This was greatly en- joyed by the good attendance of Seniors. Mr. Poats enter- tained during intermission with solos and jokes. by Marion King The Senior Citizen's Club 101 met on November 10th. The meeting opened with the singing of O Canada, follow- ed by two minutes silence in honour of Armistice Day. Win Philp read the Secretary's report which was approved as read. Burnsell Webster gave the Treasurer's report. We are going to see Simcoe Lights on December 6. The cost will be $8 for members, $10.50 for non-members. Din- ner will be extra. The Lion's Club are giving a wine and cheese party on November 24, after our regular meeting. ' December 15 is our Christmas Dinner catered by Henny Jackson and Sylvia Parker. Guest speaker was Joe Coggashell [centre back with tie] of Atlanta Georgia. He is a retired U.S. Navy officer and currently national training director for the Christian Businessmens Organization. He spoke of his own personal commitment to Christianity. The - local group holds regular meetings each Wednesday morning in Port Perry. Obituary A resident of Enniskillen for 30 years, after failing health for several years, Mrs. Eglin Taylor passed away suddenly at her home in En- niskillen, Ontario, on August 29, 1982 in her 87th year. On August 28 she attended Blackstock Fair as she always had done for the past 80 years. She was a daughter of Thomas Taylor and Ida McCrea, the youngest of a family of six; three brothers, Newton, Edmund, Talmage; two sisters Pearl (Mrs. W. Weatherilt), Ruth (Mrs. W. Williams). She was born and educated in Cartwright Township, Concession 1, and lived there over 55 years. While living in the Caesarea and Nestleton area, she was always interested in the church, sang in the choir and sometimes played the organ. On November 16th, 1921, she married Fred Toms of Purple Hill, a widower with two young children, Ruby and Roy, and lived on the Tom's homestead for 30 years. Roy lived only two years. Bethel Church adjoined the farm. She was superintendent of Bethel Sunday School over 20 years, member of Shirley Women's Institute and presi- dent for several years. She had a keen interest in her family, home and community, en- joyed entertaining her friends, was a member of Blackstock United Church and later Enniskillen United Church and U.C.W. She has left to mourn, her husband, Elgin Taylor, Ruby (Mrs. Earl Trewin) to whom she was mother for over 60 years, grandchildren Doreen Dittburner, Donald Trewein, two great grandchildren, Jason Dittburner and Kelly Trewin, her daughter Jean (Mrs. Lloyd Slemon), grand- children, Susan and Fred Slemon, step-children, Bruce and Donald Taylor, Evelyn (Mrs. R. Sherwin) and 15 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cole presided at the organ. Beautiful floral tributes were received from Blackstock, Orono, Millbrook, Bowmanville, Toronto, Norland, Enniskillen Church and community. Also dona- tions to Heart, Cancer and churches. Pallbearers were: Ralph Sadler, Harvey Graham, Douglas Taylor, Ollie Weatherilt, Harold McLaughlin, Donald Taylor. Flower bearers were: Sandy Moore, Murray Franklin and Allan Taylor.
