New books by the hundreds! It takes place the week of November 29. The hours are: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday -8:30 a.m.- 5 p.m., Wednesday - 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. See you there. December brings the annual geometric design contest for intermediate students. The contest will be judged on December 14th. Parents are welcomed to come to view the products in Room 28. Students are preparing for the R.H. Cornish Science Fair on December 6th and GM Gift of Music concerts The General Motors Choir will be presenting its annual Christmas Gift of Music for the G.M. employees and families on Saturday, December 4th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 5th at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The concerts will be held at O'Neill Collegiate and Voca- tional Institue, Simcoe Street North, Oshawa, 0.C.V.I. Tickets will be available at the main reception desks and plant entrances. INTRODUCING... COMPTON VIDEO 7th. There will be public viewing on the afternoon of December 7 and the awards presentation will be in the evening of December 7th. The Grade 8 students will be holding an interesting sale of goods on December 15th, during the lunch hour. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity and the remainder will be used to help cover the cost of a school excursion in Feb- ruary. So save your pennies students and do your Christmas shopping on Dec- ember 15th in the Grade 8 core. The winners of the pump- kin contest (estimating skills) were 1st - Natalie Franssen - Class 83, 2nd - Charlene Daigle - 71, John Rowett - 84. On Thursday, November 18, the Cornish Senior Boys volleyball team played their first game of the season against Cartwright. Cornish team won three games straight, by scores of 15-5, 15-7, and 15-4. Congrat- ulations boys. On Monday, November 15, the R.H. Cornish Senior girls volleyball team hosted 'Sunderland. The girls played 5 games, 4 going to Sunder- land and 1 win for Cornish. Don't worry girls, there'll be another chance! To end a very exciting season of beachball volley- ball, class 81-83 came out as champs. Special thanks to Mrs. Manitius for organizing the beachball volleyball teams! The by Earline Armstrong The Prince Albert U.C.W. met for their regular monthly meeting in the church base- ment on Wed. Nov. 17, 1982. Devotion was under the capable hands of Helen Jewell and Lila Clarke. Eighteen ladies answered the roll call - What is you favourite Proverb? . A variety of business was talked over from donations for the Hospital Auxiliary bake sale on Dec. 10th to three dozen new knives for the kit- chen. Thank you notes were read from Grace Beacock, Andrea Jones and Sharon Wannamaker. Lunch was served by Mary Williamson and Ilean Pugh. Next meeting will be on Wed. December 15 at 8 in the evening. Thursday evening was once again euchre night over at Prince Albert Hall. Ladies high was- Pat Norton, 2nd was Pearl Gostick and low Marion Bell. On the mens side high was Grant Bright, 2nd was Bert Daniels and low was Charlie McLaughlin. 15 tables were filled. Please come out next Thursday, Nov. 25 and try your luck at cards. All are welcome. Belated congratulations to Rick Doyle of Prince Albert on landing an Ottawa job and we hope to see you around Prince Albert in the near future. Grace Beacock is home and slowly moving around. Charlene played the part of Gypsy Rose Lee as a child, Max was a newsboy and Ed took on three parts- one as Pop, the next Mr. Kringeleian and the third of Pastey,.Ad- judicated was done on the play and Charlene received favourable mention plus a bouquet of flowers. Going from Prince Albert to see this play were Rev. and Mrs. Charles Clarke, Helen Jewell and Milton Heayn. Con- gratulations to these three and keep up the good work. Now on Nov. 26, 27 and 28, in Port Perry, Max will be in a play entitled "Stick with Molasses."" Bruce Arculus from our village will also be in this production.
