Scugog by Mrs. Earl Reader Next Sunday, May 30, it will be an important day in the Scugog Pastoral Church of the United Church. Since Rev. Linstead found it necessary to resign from his service due to health, a personnel committee has had two meetings with two representatives from Presbytery to discuss the future of the charge and the possibilities for continued ministerial service. Now the conclusions will be presented to the congregation for decisions and opinions. Accordingly the congregations of Manchester and Scugog Island will have a joint service in the Island Church at 10:30 a.m. After this a member of the Pastoral Relations Committee of Presbytery will conduct a very important meeting. All who are interested are requested to make a special effort to be present. At the end of the meeting, refreshments will be served. Your opinions, desires and judgement are needed at this time. The following Sunday is an important one for the Sunday School when they conclude their busy year and receive awards for attendance and accomplishments. This is a fitting time for another special address. Therefore, Rev. Stan Crookall of Hamp- ton, who spends much time with young people has con- sented to come and share his knowledge and experience with our Sunday School and adults. When the people of Manchester heard of this, they desired his address too and we are pleased to say he is able to help them too. After the Service there is to be a well organized family picnic so bring your lunch, or WEDNESDAY JUNE 2 SALE TIME: 11:00 A.M. Island you may have time to go home after it. There will not be Sunday School lessons again until the 1st Sunday of September. We think our Sunday School staff should have awards too as they have put so much effort into the past year. But I imagine they get much satisfaction from the results. The Cubs and Beavers had their banquet some time ago and now the Brownies and Guides are looking forward to theirs with their mothers on Sat. June 5. Let us also remind you of the Hard Times dance that will follow in the evening to make money for the girls' projects. For tickets please call Mrs. Sharen Bobbie. Well, we knew it would have to rain at some period of the week end as it does for every Museum opening. However, people were able to move around quite easily and get hot coffee to warm the chill. It certainly seems too bad when you go and realize the amount of planning and work to have something different each year. In talking to various guests, it was noted that people still come from a distance while many i Island people have Hever attended. This Thursday about 80 ladies from various sInstitutes will have a luncheon at the Community Hall. Don't forget to keep saving your used stamps for the Leprosy Mission. Give to your correspondent. \.
