PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed. April 7, 1982 -- 13 Port Perry has three on OASA executive The Ontario Amateur soft- ball Assoc. held their 60th annual meeting in Niagara Falls on March 26,27,28 and the results were very rewarding for the Port Perry delagates. The 2nd Vice President will be Jack Cook Jr. as he retained his position. Four other members were seeking the position which Jack won on the first ballot. Jack serves as the treasurer of the local association. Garry Venning was elected to the executive council. Seventeen of the 23 members nominated stood for the six . executive positions and Garry sur- prised a lot of people gaining his first time on the executive. He is an OASA convenor, local executive member and a director of the midget tournament. Port Perry now has three members on the executive council which is made up of 34 members. Vin Walker is a past president. This is a great tribute to the people of PortPerry and an indication of the high respect local delagates have earned over the past 20 years. Another highlite was the presentation to Bill Harper of a special achievement award. for his many years of service to the game of softball. The main change in rules will see all ages increased bv Dance raises $1200 for local park The "Spring Ball in Green- bank Hall" was held last Saturday night and was a resounding success. The dance was held in support of the Greenbank Park Committee who are attempting to improve the facilities in the park, includ- ing washrooms, floodlights, and playground equipment. A combination of Geordie and Ruby Beare, George Timms, the Greenbank "Gamblers" fastball club and the ladies of the comm- unity (who provided the lunch) resulted in over $1200.00 being raised. All expenses were covered by these people with an assist from Pepsi-Cola and Canada Dry. Every dollar taken in has been forwarded to the park fund. The park committee hope to start on the various pro- jects by May 1st. These projects include the wash- rooms, completion of the tennis courts and upgrading of the playground equip- ment. Also the ball field flood- light installation will be completed shortly and will be ready for the start of the baseball season. The floodlights were "basically donated by former Greenbank residents Lloyd and Marion Lee. All in all, it looks like a busy and interesting summer for Greenbank park activities. Champs : (From page 12) We scored 235 goals and had only 108 scored against us. In Play-offs, we played 16 games, won 14, lost 2, scored 102 goals and allowed 25. This year we had a very even scoring balance with each line contributing equally. As this is the seasons end, 1 would like to thank Dave Obee, Dave Ballingall and Pat Morrow for all the work they put forward. As well, we would like to thank Port Perry Minor Hockey, George Stone, our sponsor, the parents and most of all these 17 young men who made us .80 very proud all season.
