The harp -- a modern descendant of the lyre -- creates an enchanting sound unique in the realm of music. Teamed with a splendid Tenor voice, this sound adds up to Lyracord, a fresh new Harp- Tenor Duo which offers music from Bach to Britten, folk songs to opera, on the North American Concert scene. Lyracord consists of charming, talented harpist Gianetta Baril who has played with both the Edmonton and Calgary Symphony orchestras as well as the national Youth Orchestra. she is a familiar performer on both CBC Radio and TV, and also has even had the opportunity to show her versatility to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth during a Royal visit to Edmonton. Joining Miss Baril as the other half of Lyracord is rising Tenor star James McLean, fresh from his triumph at Stratford as their leading tenor in the 1981 season, performing such roles as Rafe Rackstraw in H.M.S. Pinafore. Mr. McLean has been awarded grants and scholarships too numerous to mention and has performed with a host of musical groups, . including The Festival Singers of Toronto, The Elmer Iseler Port Perry Star ADVERTISING 'DEADLINE ALL ADVERTISING: Monday 12 Noon Singers, and the Toronto Mendelsshon Choir.
