Larocque took the game to Utica in the first few minutes but couldn't put the ball in the nét at this point. Event- ually with just over 2:00 to play in the first period Colin Wackett netted his first of the year on a set-up by Steve * Robinson. In the second, Chester Down at the side of the Larocque net put one in the long side on a pass from behind the net by Danny McKee. Before the period had ended Larocque again went ahead, by a 2-1 score when Larry Page hand cuffed Don Card with a quick shot waist high on the short side. Midway through the final frame Danny McKee got his second point of the game as he scored to tie the game. C&B blanked Beacock's by a 3-0 score in the next match of the day. The first period had barely gotten underway when Mike Mitchell on left wing fired a pass to the front of the net where a rushing Rob Evans directed it into the net for the first C&B goal. Although C&B carried most of the play in the second period both teams were kept scoreless thus heading into' the final period with a 1-0 score, Ken Fraser potted the final two goals.on similar set-ups as he received passes from the side of the net to the slot where he stood to pyt it home. Mark Lee and Bruce Woodrow respectively supplied the assists. The final game of. the regular season was a tie as Brian's and Emmerson's deadlocked at one a piece. The first period ended at a 0-0 score as neither team mustered any real scoring threats. Two minutes into the middle period Art Matthaws of Emmerson's fired a low shot that squeak- ed between the legs of goaler John Lefaive. Charlie Dennis picked up the assist on the play. At the 9:25 mark Brian's got the final goal of the game off the broom of Finley Peeters. Ken St. Amant passed the ball to Peeters in the slot, who fought off a checker and fired it into the top corner. The final score Brian's 1, Emmerson's 1. Sports wrap-up from PPHS by Kevin Harris Port Perry High School visited Eastdale Collegiate last Tuesday, February 9. The boys basketball teams were both set for the show- down. All three squads were in must win situtations. The juniors were the only ones to come out on top. Rob Burnett lead the way for Port Perry with 23 points. Mark Phillips played well and hooped in 8 points. Stan Glass banked in 5 points as Richard Alsoop connected for 4 points. Trevor Till swished a basket as Dean Stone and Jamie Lane hit singles from the foul line. Both squads were dead- locked at 10 points at the end of the first quarter. Port played one of their best quarters in the second period. They out scored Eastdale by a 20 to 2 count. The remainder of the game saw the Rebels lead narrowed but Port held on and won the game 44-35. Seniors Port Perry's senior Rebels 'played hard but could not come up with a win. The squad jumped out to a 10-8 lead in the first quarter. The home team fought hard in the rest of the half. They put up a 24-17 mark on the score board to grab the lead. } In the third period Port came storming back to return a 37-32 lead. Scott Wallace hooked in 10 points while Pete Stoned hooped 8. Kevin Harris banked in 6 points as Pete Christie and Rob Franssen scored 3 and 2 points respect- ively. Midgets The midget squad lost against Eastdale without the help of their centre Vaughan McKee. Port fell behind quickly in the first period 12-4. The squad never caught up in the remainder of the game. The team gave it a good shot but fell short by 8 points. The final score was 38-30. Paul Bateman scored 12 points. Mark Butters and Darryl Mussleman hooped in 8 points and 6 points respect- ively. Sam McCreight and Kevin Jackson added a basket each to the score board. Henry St. Port Perry High School hosted Henry Street last Thursday February 11. The Juniors were the only squad to come out on top despite the fine play of the seniors and midgets. Juniors The Rebels snared a 11-8 lead in the. first eight minutes. The boys then went on to grab a 2 points lead at half (26-24). : (Turntopage 18) The Mitchell Brothers Building Supply annual mixed bonspiel at Port Perry Curling Club was won by a team from Agincourt. Don Mitchell presented the plaques to skip Ross Ellis, Lorraine Ellis and Norm and Ruth Gainer.
