Davison of Nestleton returned home after an enjoyable four weeks Jan- uary vacation. Sunday when they arrived in Toronto they had an extended stay over- night at Holiday Inn, due to road conditions. Birthday Celebration Four year Katy Whitfield, older daughter of David & Judy Whitfield, Toronto, celebrated her birthday on Saturday, February 6th, with grandparents Barney and Dorothy McCabe of Nestleton present to help with the festivities. After the enjoyable birthday party with a "special cake' and all the trimmings, a delicious brunch was served. "Happy Birthday' to little Katy from this area. Mrs. Neta Fish gave the financial report for the year Jennifer Ashley born at the Queensway Hospital in Islington - a new grandchild for Barney and Dorothy McCabe. Pleased to report that daughter Janice McCabe who has been seriously ill in Etobicoke General Hospital is now well on the way to recovery and Janice is back home in Islington. Her parents Barney and Dorothy McCabe wish to voice appre- ciation to all for kindness and concern while Janice has been so ill. Wedding Vows Exchanged On Saturday afternoon, Nestleton, was the scene of a lovely wedding when Con- stable Bill Linington took as his bride, Donna Bardel- eden, with Rev. John Smith, Whitby, officiating at the ceremony. The wedding was held at the home of friends, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Oppers. Later brunch was served at Donna's home to some twenty relatives and friends. A honeymoon to Florida, has been planned for March. "Heartiest Con- gratulations' for much happiness from the area. Annual Meeting of United Church Women The Nestleton U.C.W. met at the attractive home of Mrs. Marg France, Scugog Pt., Jan. 12, 2 p.m. with the president Mrs. M. Cawker in the chair. Rev. John Smith was cordially welcomed, and before installing the Officers, spoke briefly to the group expresing many thoughts re- the meaningful work the U.C.W.'s perform within the church. He commended the members for not backing away from a challenging 1982 - each one doing her share- with the talents with which she has been endowed. The officers were duly installed bv the minister for the ensuing year. Mrs. Jean Williams was elected to the Pastoral Relations Committee. The President extended a thank you to Rev. John Smith for assistance and warm words of encourage- ment for the year ahead. Members were welcomed and thanked for unfailing assistance during the year 1981. A report of the "high- lights" for the past year were listed by the President. An excellent worship period was presented by Unit leader Mrs. Gwen Malcolm taken from "Daily Blessings' by Oral Roberts. She closed with a recipe for a good year. When the roll was called, members paid their dues, and named a resolution for 1982 with many interesting comments. Minutes were read by Assist-Sec'y Mrs. leona Sadler and approved, and correspondence con- sisted of many thank you - September, 1982. Nestleton United "Church carried on, but some were unable to attend due to heavily drifted lanes. Rev. John Smith presented an interesting story for the young fry re- ways of growing. Service was held Sunday afternoon in Can- nington. Lewis was a fine friend, and will be greatly missed by many folks.
