Port's Mark Andrews sent one flying between the goalie's legs with the assists to Jan Heyes and Jason Cochrane. Mark was then penalized two minutes for tripping but the boys kept up the attack and Mike Feasby broke away on a pass from Steve Staniland to score for Port while they were short- handed. Midway through the third, Merchants Brian Meek was carried from the ice on a stretcher after he went head first into the boards in a race for the puck with MoJacks Ian Turner. Meek was taken by ambulance to hospital. However, he was released the same evening as the injury was not serious. The game was very chippy in places and there was an incident at the end of the match when one of the Merchant players took a push at Turner and knocked him to the ice. There was some brief pushing and shoving in the hallway out- side the dressing rooms. Jamie Bird again had a strong game for the MoJacks with two goals and an assist. He is playing with alot of confidence and with a little luck might have had two or three more goals. Midget B's come to life in 6-3 win over Uxbridge Canadian Tire Ice Hawks played one of their best games of the season, beating Uxbridge by a score of 6 - 3. Port opened the scoring with a goal by Ian Dickson with the assist going to Brian Hendricks. Port went ahead with a second goal scored by Mark Kerry with assists going to Ian Dickson and Brian Hendricks. At this point it looked like Port had a easy victory coming to them, but with only 7 minutes left in the 1st period Uxbridge unleashed a series of attack on the Ice Hawks. With this attack they quickly netted 3 goals and for the 1st time in this game they were. now ahead of Port. This ended the scoring in the first period and both teams retired to the dressing rooms while the attendants flooded the ice. Well whatever coaches Mike Adam and Chap Jones said to their players it must have shook the Ice Hawks up, because as soon as the puck was dropped to start the second period the Ice Hawks appeared to be another team on the ice. They just hustled and worked harder than ever and came up with two beautifully . scored goals. The third goal scored for the Ice Hawks was scored by Brian Hendricks with assists going to Ian Dickson and Darrien McKenzie. This goal scored for Port had been a power play goal which had been set up perfectly in the Uxbridge's end of the ice by Captain Russ Jones. Ports next goal was scored by Ian Dickson with assists going to Brian -Hendricks and Russ Jones with'the score now at 4 - 3 the Ice Hawks were not about to let Uxbridge win this game. The third period was a repeat of the second with the Ice Hawks blasting two more pucks past the Uxbridge goaltender. Ports 5th goal was scored by Mark McConnel with assists going to Brian Hendricks and Ian Dickson. The 6th goal and last of the game was scored by a guy who deserved to get 5 goals with his effort and determination was Gregg Williams with assists going to Darrien McKenzie and Ian Dickson. lan Dickson and Brian Hendricks both newcomers to the Ice Hawks had a very productive night with Dick- son tallying up 6 points and Hendricks with 4 points. Playing in goal was Paul Kingston who turned in a solid performance, coming up with key saves on a few of Uxbridge's scoring chances. With the way Port is playing right now they will be a tough team to beat when playoffs start. Good game guys and keep up the good work and effort. Next game in Port Wed- nesday Jan. 13 against Cannington. P.S. Hope to see more parents come out and support their son and his hockey team.
