At the Island United Church it was noted that visitors were around and also that some families took advantage of the 3 day weekend to go away. The smaller number of S.S. pupils were lonesome without the others. However, next week will see everyone making new resolutions and prepared to start a good year. New things are being planned, so get right in on the beginning. It was pleasant to get Christmas messages from former Island residents such as Alvin and Joyce Heayn, Rev. and Mrs. J.K. Braham, Mrs. Flora Muffitt, Mrs. Ploss and the former Gibbons girls from Port View Beach, Mrs. Alex Martyn who is recuperating from surgery in the St. John's Convalescent Hospital. Rev. E. Linstead is on vacation for a month, so anyone requiring a minister's service please call Rev. Chas. Clarke. Nelson and Betty are enjoying a week's vacation in Los Angeles with Betty's sister and family. Seagrave area news by Norma Adams The family skating on Sun- day night in Oakwood was very successful. There was a large turnout. The Mariposa Oldtimers beat the Oakwood Oldtimers 7 - 6 in the game that followed. Visiting with the Adams over the Christmas holiday were my parents Mr. and Mrs. Harry Davis from Tobermory and my brother Rob from Acton. It finally looks like winter has come, there are lots of snowmobilers around. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and will have a happy and healthy New Year.
