AJ PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., December 30, 1981 -- 27 Pineridge Garden Club installs 1982 executive by Claudia McDiarmid The Pineridge Garden Club held their annual meeting Dec. 1st in the form of a Pot Luck Supper. It was indeed wonderful to see such a large turnout of society members along with their spouses and children. Approximately 90 people enjoyed the delicious supper and the tables had been decorated so lovely by Grace Bajema. President Rika Wygerde welcomed everyone inclu- ding special guests Mr. and Mrs. Evans - Treasurer of District 17. District 17 Direc- tor Mr. Allan Foss and his wife, guest speaker Mrs. Chalice and her husband and Mrs. Zeger guest speaker on youth groups. Following the supper our last annual minutes were read and the treasurer report given. Allan Foss then conducted the installation of officers for 1982. They are as follows: Pres. Rika Wygerde, 1st Vice Pres. John Kingstone, 2nd Vice Pres. Paul Johansen, Secre- tary Claudia McDiarmid, Treasurer Kathy Petrie. Directors for 1982 are as follows: Edith McLaughlin, Kris Wilson, Moira Fallis, Pat Kingstone and Shirley Love. Directors for 1982-1983 are as - follows: Grace Bajema, Alice Turcotte, Ida Hurtig, Kathy Petrie, Claudia McDiarmid. Rika Wygerde gave a summary of the society's yearly work. Best flower garden: 1st Grace Bajema, 2nd Bernice Mairs, 3rd Norma Frew. Photography competition: Class 1 Alice Turcotte; Class 2-5 Grace Bajema. Best pressed flower pic- ture; 1st Grace Bajema and 2nd Pat Kingstone. Best pinecone wreath: 1st' Grace Bajema; 2nd Marilyn Bailey. Best cornhusk wreath: 1st Claudia McDiarmid; 2nd Grace Bajema. Best yearbook cover for 1982: Marylou Foote. Our guest speakers Mrs. Chalice and Mrs. Zegers from the Orono Society gave a delightful talk and slides on starting a youth programme. Mrs. Zegers had set up a lovely display of youth work done by her group. Following our guest speakers we were enter- tained by Mr. and Mrs. Freeman and their band.
