Miss Lana Malcolm and Mr. Darryl Robinson provided a fine duet with their own musical accompaniment. Quite an impressive service is report- ed by those in attendance. Mrs. Betty Whittaker of Hamilton and Mrs. Hazel Whittaker of Lindsay (who has just been released from Ross Memorial Hospital) are scheduled to spend Xmas with Eileen and Howard Malcolm, Mr. and Mrs. Allan Gundry of Barrie and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Malcolm and Group of 4. Mrs. Audrie Brown, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm hosted Corrie Malcolm to a Birthday Celebration on Sat. evening at Crandalls in Port Perry with hubby Harvey coasting along with the flow. A double celebration on Sunday for our spouse and C.E.O.as Mitzi and Bob Fick hosted Mitzi's mother to a family observation with Marti and Jane Malcolm. Harvey and Mona Malcolm and Ronnie Sharman in attendance. A very pleasant day for the Malcolm clan. - Harvey Malcolm, of Janet- ville, Ontario, a member of the Board of Directors of United Co-operatives of Ont- ario (UCO) since 1978, has been returned to office by acclamation, for a second term. Harvey is a man of many interests and involvements which are co-operative, agricultural, and community-based. He has been an active Co-op elder at Yelverton United Church. In addition to all that, Harvey is also a news correspondent for the Bowmanville Statesman, Lindsay Daily Post and Port Perry Star. United Co-operatives of Ontario is the largest farm supply and marketing co- operative in Ontario. It provides a complete line of« farm imputs, including feed, seed, fertilizer, petroleum and hardware, through more than 180 CO-OP outlets across the province. It also markets livestock, grain and poultry. UCO is owned by 49,200 individual members and 49 member co-operatives representing an additional 40,000 provincial members. U.C.W.NEWS by Doris Rowan Twelve members of Yel- verton U.C.W. met at the Church on Dec. 3rd for their Christmas meeting, Mrs. Linda Pfok chaired the meet- ing which was opened with the Ode. Mrs. Ida Hurtig led in prayer. 'Silent Night, Holy Night" was sung in unison followed by Ida read- ing a Poem "Home for Christmas." Mrs. Hurtig's topic was "Hope - Just as one hopes when a child is born, that he - she will someday become a positive force in the realm of leadership, similarly was the Birth of our Lord Jesus the Hope of the World. Following prayer - "Hark the Herald Angels" was sung. Minutes were read and Treasurer's and flowers reports were given. Thank you notes were read from fruit box recepients and Alcohol and Drag Concerns and Lindsay's Arc Industries. Linda thanked the ladies for their co- operation during her term of office. The new slate of Officiers 1982-83 was presented as follows: President - Agnes Howe, Sect - Doris Rowan. A donat- ion of $100 was made to the Friendship Fund, The U.C.W, are invited to Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wilson's for the January meeting. The hostess to be Audrie Brown and Doris Rowan. Linda and Agnes spent a great deal of time and effort in decorating the entire basement and tables for the pot luck supper that followed. The ladies husb- ands joined the ladies for a delicious dinner. Agnes, with Linda at the piano, gave a fine Christmas program, singing carols that fit into the story provided. The supply committee had a nice box of- gifts to be sent to the Victor Home for women. Each term of office for the Board member is three years, and the person can serve only four consecutive terms. Harvey's agricultural and community involvement has been extensive. He is the Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Allin recently celebrated their 50th "Golden Wedding Anniversary." They had the pleasure of welcoming many friends: and' relatives in the Whitby home of daughter and son-in-law, Isabelle and James Fell. The Allins lived on a farm on Bloor St. W. Oshawa, for many years. They have 1 son, Ivan and 5 daughters - Glenda Wright, Alma Brandon, --Shirléy Smith, Hazel Cooper and Isabelle Fell and they have 12 grandchildren. Mervyn received congratulating messages from Gov. General Schrier, Prime Minister Trudeau, Premier Davis, Sam Cureatz, Ed Broadbent, Mayor Pilkey and Oshawa Council and from their Pastor at Columbus Rev.
