It is a lovely Scotch pine, nicely decorated, and under- neath there are lots of brightly wrapped gifts wait- ing to be opened on Christmas morning. It is a typical tree in all aspects but one. This Christmas. tree is hanging from the ceiling. "It is a family tradition for us," explained Mrs. Nancy Christie, who said her father started hanging the trees One Christmas, her father brought home a rather large tree and it just wasn't going to fit in the living room. So, he hung it upside down from the ceiling. Not only did the tree take up less space in the room, it was out of the way of the family dog, cat and the inquisitive hands of young children. The tree is suspended by a hook and wood screw drilled through the ceiling plaster into one of the wooden joists. The Christies have two children, the youngest seven, more for fun than the practicality which started it 22 years ago. ! He says that most of tHeir friends know they hang the tree from the ceiling, but people who see it for the first time are taken by surprise. But it is no big thing for seven year old Aaron . Christie who has never known a family Christmas tree in any other way. And like all seven year olds, he's looking forward to finding out what's under the tree on Christmas morning. wr el 5% Py at i FORTHE LADYONYOURLIST... oo i i" " A LEVI "BENDOVER"" SLACKS £5 . 1 $ &7 U3 2 4 ° 9 5 pe oo; 1 .
