SMI SER rng The Port Perry Hospital Ladies Auxiliary held its annual meeting November 16 with the appointment of a new executive. Mrs. Grace Richardson showed slides and spoke of her life as a teacher in a boarding school in Zambia, Africa. The school attendance is . approx 95 children ranging from Grade 1 to 9. These children live at the mission for 13 weeks (one semester) then home with their parents for a short holiday before starting back for the second term. The parents of most of the children are missionarys * who go into the remote areas of the country. Mrs. Richardson also bikes into small villages near the mission once a week to help teach reading and Bible studies. Her leave is up in January and she will return to Africa for another three years. Mrs. Richardson is a cousin to Mrs.» Cameron Aldred and Mrs. Burnsell Webster. HYGRADE | FUELS LTD. The parade begins November 28 at 2:00 p.m. sharp at the High School. Let's see that rebel spirit by helping with the building of the float, and also by-particjpating on the float this-Saturday. On December 2, the annual Child's Christmas is being held at P.P.H.S. at 7:00 p.m. Come and see the students in action! Last Wednesday was the bake sale at the High School. Ladies Auxiliary elects new executive | son, president; Joyce Taylor, 1st vice president; Pat Taylor, treasurer; Ann Currie, 2nd VP; Marg McConnell 3rd VP; and Louella Graham, corres- ponding secretary. The profits made from the sale will go toward the new library. From the proceeds a 'purchase will be made and donated to the library. On Friday, November 20, it was sports shirt day at P.P.H.S. It was good to see that almost everyone dressed for the occasion. Last Tuesday night was the Senior Wind Esemble band's initiation. All the new members can now say that they certainly are part of the Ensemble. That's all the news for this week. We will see you at the Santa Claus parade on Saturday. Handicraft Guild meet by Jo Dowson The Louise Patterson Handicraft Guild met on Wed. Nov. 11th in St. Johns Church Hall. The regular business was conducted after which members were given a demonstration of Dough Art by Diane Barrett who brought many eye-catching examples of the craft. VERNON HOWARD PERIGOE An employee of Duplate, with 29 years service, Vernon Howard Perigoe passed away at the Oshawa General Hospital on October 20th, 1981 after a lengthy illness. He had lived at 42 Torian Avenue in Brooklin, Ontario. Born June 2, 1934 in Nestle- ton, Ontario, he was the son of the late Thomas and the late Alma Perigoe of Caes- area. : He was a member of the U.A.W., Local 222, and also the Duplate.
