ERM nn re By rE Ny WPL Clr Get) ire WEE, P.P. H.S. by Norma Arney Busy, busy, busy, that's what you would have been if you were at P.P.H.S. last week. To begin with, Wed. was housecoat Day where students were to come to school in their housecoats. This was in honour of the group "Housecoats" who started off our Halloween Assembly. : Friday was Dress Up Day, as well as commencement, but that didn't stop the Grade 13's from joining in the Rebel Spirit by putting on their make-up and crossing their fingers that it would be off before the night arrived. Congratulations to Lynette Jackson and Alymer Jones for their "best dressed" costumes. Rebels - the costumes were terrific, from the skunk to all the hippies, a pregnant mother, and all those devils walking around. Thanks for showing your school spirit. Friday was a day for mixed feelings at P.P.H.S., especially for the seniors. We saw our hold buddies to say hello again, and to say, once more, good-bye. Wendy Bracken, our Valedictorian, touched many hearts with her speech. To the class of 81, P.P.H.S. students wish you all the best if life. More news from Port High next week. Greenbank WI by M. Beaton On Wed. Oct. 21st, eighteen ladies of the Women's Insti- tute and friends enjoyed the tour to Colby's Pine Shops and Craft Cabinets in Ux- bridge. Later they returned to -the home of Mrs. Iva Phoenix for their business meeting. The president, Helen McKean welcomed every- one and the opening ode, and Mary Stewart Collect was repeated. A poem 'Country Thanksgiving' was read by Helen. Thanks was expressed to Mrs. Helen Wilson and Mrs. Mildred Milne for their help with the Port Perry and Uxbridge fair displays. The Roll Call was answered by handing in "Cheese Recipes." Minutes of the Sept. meeting were approved as read. Mrs. Bessie Donneral reported on the growing of "Soy Beans" a new industry in western Ontario. : The bus trip to the conven: tion at the Royal York on Nov. 3 was discussed. Any- one wishing to go can join the Port Perry ladies on their chartered bus. Mrs. Doris Hill is our representative to present the W.I. at Port. Perry High School next week. It was decided to cancel a bus trip for the present. Our W.I. course on "F ood for all Seasons' will be held in Greenbank Hall on Oct. 29th, 10 to 4. Mrs. Iva Phoenix and Mrs. Marion Innes are the leaders. This is a very interesting course - all ladies are invited to attend. Summary day will be in Uxbridge on Dec. 15th. The meeting closed with a social hour, followed by lunch. A] HELPFUL HINT For sparkling clean chrome, without streaks, use cloth dampened in ammonia.
