Better health is wished for Jim Emerton who is cur- rently a patient in Port Perry Hospital. | A surprise -dinner party was held in honour of Helen and Bill Newlove to cele- brate their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary at the home of Val and Peter Sweetman. This party was attended by about twenty friends and relatives. Bill and Helen were presented with a lovely memorative plate in honour of this happy ocassion. Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mahaffy were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fraser, Kent and - Erin, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Mahaffy, St. Marys, Mr. and Mrs. Grant McLaughlin celebrating a birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Hector Short- ridge were Saturday evening dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shortridge and Stephanie of Port Perry celebrating May and Bill's birthdays. There are several impor- tant activities planned for this week. On Wednesday evening the small Ranger Troop is holding a Fashion Show at 7 p.m. at the Recreation Centre. Children's * fashions are a new addition to Chandelle Fashions and will be modelled by several members of our community. As usual the lovely ladies fashions will be modelled and be available for sale. On Thursday evening plan to accept the open invitation to the people of our commun- ity to view our arena prior to its opening on Friday evening. This meeting on Thursday evening at 8 p.m. should be of particular interest to parents whose children are using the arena so that they are aware of our facilities. The rink opens with free skating on Friday evening. On Sunday, November 1 the United Church will hold its annual Anniversary Services. Dr. W. F. Bannister of Kingston will be guest speaker at this service which will be held at 11 a.m. Mr. Bannister is known by many. October O0.N.O-My apologies for missing this item before. The October O.N.O. meeting was held on Thurs- day, October 8 at the home of Diane Davies. Business included a Parks Board Report with the decision to install ceiling fans in the Rec. Centre 0.N.O. had previously voted to purchase these fans with the Parks Board paying the installation cost. Last minute arrangements were made for the O.N.O. Masquerade dance on October 24 at the Rec Centre. Money was handed in for the Husbands' Banquet on November 5 at Kawartha Racetrack. i Roll Call was answered by each member relating a "personal spooky experience" Many hair- raising tales were told. Blackstock and District Lions Club would like to thank the people of old Cart- wright Township for their generous support during their recent drive for the C.N.L.LB. The proceeds will be donated to the District Administrator, Mr. Bill Brown of the C.N.L.B. for Durham-York Region at the Lions Club meeting on November 4. Jim Mitchell of Simcoe St. has arrived home after spending Thanksgiving with his grandson in the Ottawa area. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Smith had their grandson Micky Stolar and wife Jackie of Sudbury on Monday for supper guests. About sixty friends and relatives of Harry and Joan Morris gathered at the community centre a couple of weeks ago, for a surprise twenty-fifth wedding anni- versary. The evening was spent visiting and dancing followed by a lovely buffet lunch. The Morris's lived in Prince Albert for a number of years. Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock entertained the choir after choir practice. The evening was spent with some contest and just friendly visiting followed by lunch. Better health is wished for George Skeratt in Oshawa hospital and Lillian Skinner and Elwood Tripp in Port Perry hospital. Happy birthday to Alan Hunter who celebrated her sixth birthday on Saturday with her cousins and friends.
