~ by Phyllis Geer The Legion Pee Wee All- Stars have opened their hockey season in fine form picking up three wins to date. They defeated Brad- ford in an exhibition game and picked up a win over the Uxbridge and Port Hope teams in their first two league games. This should be a good year for the Pee Wee's, with seventeen very talented and enthusiastic hockey players. The majority of the boys are re- united, after a successful year together as Atoms, two years ago. On Friday, October . 16, 1981, the Legion Pee Wee team. played host to Uxbridge and defeated them by a score of 9-6. David Culbert lit up the scoreboard early in the first period, with assists going to Blair Phillips and John Lally. Port picked up two more goals in the first period, scored by Robbie re Baker from Andrew Steele and David Burnett, and Brad Menzies from Steven Durham and Bobbie Goble, Uxbridge picked up their first goal early in the second period but Port answered that goal when Dave Burnett got one of his famous hard slap-shots away that "mesmorized the goalie, with the assist' going to Brad Menzies. Uxbridge came back with a goal midway in . the second period, at which time penalties took over the game. There were 18 penalty minutes assessed to Port Perry and 16 minutes to Uxbridge. Many of the penalties appeared unnec- essary to both Port Perry and Uxbridge fans. Port went ahead 6-2 with goals by Dave Burnett assisted by Robbie Baker, and John Harman scored when he made some fine manouvers and a quick deke, to put the puck past the INFLATION FIGHTERS! Uxbridge put on the pressure when they tallied another mark to make the score 7-6. Brad Menzies picked up his third goal of the game on a pass from David Culbert and Steven Durham. With one minute remaining in the game, Andrew Steele passed the -puck to David Burnett, who set up the prettiest goal of the game when he worked his way past the Uxbridge defenders and rather than take the shot himself. put the puck on the stick" of Robbie Wy ' 5 ' thal 3 LE.
