There were 266 delegates at the conference last Wed- nesday, which was held in the Port Perry United Church, the largest registra- tion ever for an Auxiliary conference in this Region. The delegates represented some 4200 volunteers who work for the Auxiliaries in the 16 hospitals. Last year, in Region 7, the volunteers put in 176,000 hours of work at a variety of jobs, ranging from fund raising, operating gift shops, and in-service to patients on the wards. Mrs. Ev Burch of Port Hope, chairman of the Con- ference said one of the main purposes of holding the meetings in the spring and fall is to give volunteers a chance to meet each other, 4 031206): 8 < FN 80 exchange ideas and exper- iences, and listen to guest speakers on specific health related matters. In Region 7, the figure was $435,000 and about 75 per cent was used for equipment purchases. Money raised is also used for scholarships for students planning careers in health care and for education and training of volunteers..
