Itis hoped that as many as possible will attend the induction service for our minister - Rev. Arthur Rodgers on Sunday, September 20th at 8 p.m. A beautiful rendition of two solo selections by George Timms and a recita- tion of the words of the gospel song "Others" by our minister, were an additional bonus to a fine service last Sunday. We are pleased that Mrs. Olive McMillan is home from the hospital: a nurse still comes each day to dress the injured area. Doug and Ruby Lunney of Whitby visited with Howard and Olive on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Treleaven, Jennifer and Jeffrey of Barry visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don McKean last weekend. Mrs. Annie Guy of Peter- borough visited at her sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Phoenix, with friends in the village, and attended the U.C.W. service last Wednes- day afternoon. Afterwards the Carnegie family had dinner and spent the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Sandy Gray of Uxbridge. Many of our older citizens and shut-ins have been pleased to have our pastor and his wife- Art and Ruth Rodgers, visit them recently. Pearl and Art Couves were entertained on Sunday at their daughers, Mr. and Mrs. Danny Reesor of Agincourt on the occasion of Pearl's birthday. Marion Jermey of Orillia has spent a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Couperthwaite. Mrs. Marjorie Madeford of South Bend, and her niece, Mrs. Margaret Panelle of Birmingham, Michigan, have been in this area for a week renewing old acquain- tances. Ashburn Community Centre "for Jim Handley of Toronto, to celebrate his 80th birthday. : Jim had been one of the Barnards boys who emigra- ted to Canada from England in 1909 with a shipment of other homeless children, from then until 1926 he made his home with the Hopkins. It was obvious that he had made many friends in the area, for many folks from Ashburn, Balsam and Glen Major called to wish Jim a happy birthday and reminisce about good old days on the farm. We wish Jim many more years of 0 health and happiness.
