Their efforts were appreci- ated by a group of enthusi- ~ astic and anxious boys belonging to the Port Perry Squirt Boys House League. It was tournament day and close to seventy-five boys were ready to go. The six teams were divided into two groups, the final game played by the winner of each group. The games and scores led up to that event: Seagrave 20; Irwin Smith 24. Dowson's Red and White 19; Port Perry Star 8. Funland 27; Dowson's Red Port Perry Star 12; Swamp Garage 14. Seagrave 23; Irwin Smith 16. Swamp Garage 22; Fun land 17. . The championship game was between Funland and Seagrave and if any final game tempers were flying, lessons were learned and smiles even crept across the boys faces. A lot of sports- manship amongst those boys in that game, a pleasure to watch. Finalscore Seagrave 16 and Funland 14. The whole day, parents were treated to super catches, quick-thinking plays and those ever popular home runs. It's impossible to single out any one boy- they were all great. The day ended with Squirt Boys convenor, Don Mitchell presenting ribbons to both teams and Port Perry Minor Softball president, Rob Cooper presenting a trophy to Paul Wylie, pitcher for Seagrave, who accepted on behalf of Seagrave team. ~ Mr. Mitchell wishes to thank his coaches, assistants Parent-helpers, umpires and the boys who are such good sports.
