Frank's Restaurant was the subject of controversy this spring when Scugog Township council went on record as being opposed to the application, and the Ontario Liquor Licencing Board refused to grant a liquor licence for the restaurant. The restawant was built last winter on land just to the west of the four corners in ' the small hamlet which has a substantial number of summer residents along with a permanent population of about 300 people. The licencing board then asked Scugog Township council for its comments on the application and April 27, the council went on record with a resolution expressing concerns if the licence was granted. That resolution stayed on the books despite a petition in favour of the licence which contained some 140 names. With the announcement of the new hearing later this - reached restaurant liquor bid month, Mr. Sharpe told the Star he is still very much opposed to restaurant having a licence, but said he is not certain at this time whether he will attend the hearing in Toronto. Rene Wheeler, who organized the petition in favour of the liquor licence application could not be Monday for comment on whether she will attend the Toronto hearing.
