The Intermediate boys played the following evening, in Nestleton and Blackstock. Marj. Tripp played David's Hairstyling. This game provided lots of hits and runs for both teams, but Davids outscored the Tripp team with two big innings, the score being 10-23. Eugene Mackey had two rand slam home runs. Karen Kyte had a home run also, the entire team put up a good effort. For the Tripp team the spirit was high as they were look- ing for their first victory of the year. Jason Hall provi- ded some entertainment for David's by being a very good The highlight of the tournament came in the semi-finals when two Port Perry teams faced off. This cliff hanger between the Port Perry Juniors and the Port Perry Midgets was won in the bottom of the seventh inning when Malmont Midgets made it 3-2. Going into their half of the seventh trailing by a score of : Cartwright Softba catcher. 'Funland played a good game against Caesarea Fish and Chips. The score was very close 12-13 for Fish and son for Fish and Chips. Funland had one home run made by Brian Dean. This game provided lots of excite- ment for the boys of both teams. Brian Jones, Brad Martin, Kevin Malcolm, Bill Durant and two for Preston Denault all made great home runs for 2-1, the Midgets came alive to tie the game and then load up the bases. To add extra excitement there was three triple plays made by Kevin Ferguson, Vincent Mackie and Brian Van Camp. For the Kins- mens, Norman Schnauel did some . great catching and hitting. Sherry Jones made one home run, also one triple play. A good game was played by both teams. Team Standings Juniors: Thompsons-6 wins, 1loss; Turners - 4 wins, 3 losses; Lishmans - 4 wins, 3 (Turnto page 15) Greenbank splits in League play The Greenbank "Southern Excavation" intermediate men's softball team gained a split in their final two games of the regular season, winning 2-0 over Claremont Legion and losing 4-1 to "Mount Albert IGA. The Claremont game: was a rematch of the semi-final game in the Goodwood tournament which Clare- mont won 2-1. Ken Irvine pitched a fine game as he allowed only one hit in the game. Norton for Claremont - was equally tough as Green- bank had only 4 hits of their own. The game was score- less going -into the last inning. Then with two out, Ken Irvine was safe at first on an infield error. This brought up Don Beaton, who earlier in the game had been thrown out at the plate after he had hit the ball deep into right field. Beaton made no mistake the: second time, however, as he delivered Norton's first pitch over the left field fence for a two - run homer and a 2-0 Greenbank win. Beaton had 2 hits in the game, with Ken Irvine and Denny. Tulloch getting the others. Brian Lee played a fine Scugog Soccer Action MOSQUITO LEAGUE Sipco Oilers vs. Port Perry Star by Doug Bache This was a hard fought game by both teams with Port Perry Star coming out on top 2-0. Star scored one goal late in the first half and the other early in the second. Craig McTavish played a good game in goal for Sipco despite the score. Good efforts were also put in by Robert McConnell in his first game on the forward line and also the defence pair of Jonathan Allsopp and Steven Ervine. This evens Sipco's record game in centre field, as he made some great catches to rob Claremont of some hits. In the Mount Albert game, Elmer Spence took a 1-0 lead into the sixth inning when Mount Albert scored 4 times to gain the victory. Greg Rodd played a- great game. for Greenbank with 2 hits« and some good catches in right field. Ron Southern and Ken Irvine had the other hits for Greenbank. Greenbank has one rained out game to make up this week with Claremont Legion before playoffs start. Green- bank's first-round playoff opponent has yet to be determined. Greenbank is also entering the OASA Intermediate 'B' playoffs. The first round opponent will be Lindsay, and the first game is sched- uled for 8:30 p.m. in Lindsay on Thursday, August 6th.
