If you haven' t guessed already our third week of playground was based on the fitness theme. Our activities included exercises, competing for fitness badges as well as our regulars of swimming, roller skating and films on soccer skills. The highlight of the week was our Baseball-a-thon, which proved to be a great success as both entertaining and fund raising totalling $125.00! This money will go towards our trip to Ontario Place in our final week of playground. Not only did the participants have fun, but so did our visitors including Mayor Jerry Taylor. This week is our Animal Week with events planned such as a pet show, pony rides, films on the zoo and WHILE QUANTIT ESLAST! The Blackstock play- ground is getting ready to leave for Stratford on Monday! Actually we are leaving for the zoo on Monday, July 27th to see how animals "act" (get it!). On one of our "discovery" walks we discovered a Secret place where we built a Secret fort. So now we have somewhere Secret to go! This week we are catching the first rocketship to space or maybe we'll just make our own! Whichever the case Black- stock playground will be really "spaced" out this week. PRINCE ALBERT PLAYGROUND by Terri Healey I'm sure everyone in Prince Albert was well aware that last week was "Indian Week'. The "braves" made clay bead necklaces, Indian head- bands, complete with feathers and painted their faces with the everpopular "war paint'. They also enjoyed making scented "seal blubber" candles. On Friday, the Prince Albert Indian tribes gath- ered for a pow-wow and then set forth on an exciting excursion to raise money for (Turn to page 20) Cartwright Softball scores (From page 16) down to defeat 27 to 3 at the hands of Lishmans. For Lishmans, Tyler James hit a grand slam, as did David Mowers. Laura Rioual and Kyle Russell also added home runs. For All Flags, Stuart Dyer, Clifford Denault and Danielle Milson all made some fine plays. In Blackstock, Thompson's Village Market was defeat- ing Turners Green Giants 13 to 7. This was a close game with the fifth inning when Thompsons scored seven runs. Michael Andrews made an excellent catch in the field for Turner's; and' Scott Menzies pitched and Danny Maw played a good first base. On Wednesday night the Intermediate league re- sumed play in Nestleton and Blackstock. In Nestleton the Don Frew and Sons team defeated Marj. Tripp Real . Estate 35 to 12.
