Teresa Wygerde was one of the 140 recipients to receive the Gold Award presented by the Queen Mother. ° Those present from this 'area were Mrs. Roy Turner, local Ranger Leader, Black- stock, who helped Teresa attain the Award, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wygerde, Nestleton, Teresa's parents. Bridal Showers A miscellaneous shower was held in Nestleton United Church Sunday School Room honouring bride elect Miss Joan Marshall, Innerkip, fiancee of Mr. Barry Malcolm, Simcoe, on Friday evening with a fine atten: dance from U.C.W., W.I. and friends and neighbours from the community on hand to .mark this happy occasion. After a variety pro- gramme was enjoyed many interesting looking parcels were opened by the bride-to- be. At the conclusion, Joan warmly thanked all present for coming and for the lovely gifts and the shower held in her honour. The event was "'hosted" by the United Church Women and a delicious lunch was served bringing to a close another evening of pleasure and sociability for one of our young couples. Congratu- lations and best wishes to Barry and Joan. A sincere thank you to the U.C.W. for the wonderful help in so many ways. On Saturday afternoon Mrs. Neil Malcolm, Black- stock, hosted a miscell- aneous shower in honour of bride-to-be Miss Joan Marshall. She wads assisted by daughter Mary Lou Kellogg of Port Hope. Guests were all relatives and by Vera Brown There will no be church service at Epsom this week. The next service will be held at Utica on July 19th at 9 a.m. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Crosier and family in the recent bereavement of her sister Mrs. Jean Wheler of Scarborough and her brother Mr. Herb. Stewart of Red Deer, Alberta. * ~ Mrs. W. W. Scott of London visited with Mrs. Crosier on Friday and Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. William Brown spent the weekend at their cottage in Haliburton. Mrs. Mildred Thompson visited her mother Mrs. Miller at Mount Albert on Thursday. On Saturday she attended the Monro-Kirton wedding in Uxbridge. Carey of Barrie, Ontario, spent a few enjoyable, relaxing days with Mr. and . Mrs. Roy Nottingham in Caesarea. Roy and Doris Nottingham holidayed at Round Lake, Bonne Chare Provincial Park from Wednesday to Sunday. Gents 1st Elwood Tripp, 2nd Ken Whittington and low to Freeze-out winners were Stella Gray and Orval Lotton and Bea Harrison and Elsie Taylor came in 2nd. There will be another euchre this Friday. The word that came to my ears this morning is that the Strawberry Social was a great hit for those who took it in on Saturday evening and Seagravearea by Norma Adams The community was shocked and saddened by the sudden death of Mr. Steve Dykeman. Sympathy goes out to Angie and family. Sympathy is also extended to Mr. Crapps and family, on the death of his sister in Hamilton. Not too much news this week. Our oldtimers were in -a tournament in Oakwood. An exciting game between Mariposa and Seagrave was played at 10 a.m. in the rain and the mud. After nine innings Seagrave won 4-3. Congratulations to both 'teams on a fine effort. Seagrave went on to the Consellation Championship but unfortunately they lost to the Little Britain team. For your news next week call Barb MacDonald at 982-2728. Students reunion by Hazel Slemmon Every three years, a number of former High School students hold a Re- union. This was started in 1960. This year it was held on Saturday, June 27 on the grounds of the Lake Scugog Historical Museum. It was a beautiful day and the after- noon was spent in reminisc- ing and touring the museum buildings. Some people had not seen each other in many years. Mr. Eric Nasmith thanked Hazel Slemmon and Dorothea Koch for planning this reunion. As usual the original interesting invita- tion was designed by Eric Nasmith. There were 64 present from Kitchener, Toronto, Oshawa, Orange- ville, Arizona, Yarker, Brantford, Lakefield, Peter- boro, St. Catharines, Willow- dale, Brooklin, Bobcageon, Whitby, Scugog Island, Seagrave, View Lake, Cambridge, Pleasant Point, England and Port Perry. Fred Swann read Scripture I Kings: 8- 54-61. He spoke on King Solomon telling the people to be strong in the Faith. Victor Parsons is on holidays.
