Carolyn Carnaghan is spending the summer work- ing at Fecant, France. She is finding many changes in way of life, climate, food as well as language. Carolyn will have many interesting stories to tell when she re- turns in September. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Travis of Toronto were Friday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thompson. Ruth taught Charles in Parkdale School, Toronto over fifty years ago. Swimming lessons spon- sored by the O.N.O. Club at Uxpool, Uxbridge began for two weeks on Monday morn- ing. Mrs. Manda McLean of Bowmanville spent a few days with Mrs. Kenneth Samells. Mrs. Karen Benns, Nigal and Aaron spent a few days last week visiting her sister and family in Cornwall. Dalton and Kathleen Dorrell are wearing a very special smiles these days as they have become second time grandparents when daughter Leanne presented them with grandaughter Emily. Congratulations also to Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wright who also became grand- parents with the arrival of daughter of Don and Diane Wright. Mr. and Mrs. George Bryant, Julie and Chris- ° topher spent a enjoyable time camping for a few days at Pres'Qu'isle. Rob Graham and Paul Green attended the Regional 4H conference held at Trent University, Peterborough last week. Junior Dairy Club meet This is the Merry-Milk Maid reporting for the Durham Junior Dairy Club meeting which was held at Browview Farms on June 22nd at 7:45 p.m. There were 18 members in attendance. Go! And they're off and racing, 4 calfs and 4 teams. Furloving 4-H'ers joined in this hilarious race. After the exciting race the seniors and the juniors split up to have their own meetings. Two Junior Farmers from the United Kingdom visited the Scugog area last week as part of a three month tour of most areas of Ontario. At far left is Sally Banks of Cambridge, England and at far right is k and manuals on how to judge dairy cows. We then walked around the barn comparing cows and giving reasons on why we liked one cow better than another. This was a good review for judging held on July 15th. Eventu- ally our meeting was closed .and Mrs. Brown treated us with refreshments.
