This was the eighth year the tournament has been held at Sunnybrae with club owner Henry Paukstys dona- ting the course for the day's events. The Oshawa Tartan Tavern team recorded the lowest best ball (with handi- cap) score for the day, 20 under par, to win the team prize for the second straight year. They earn a trip to the National tournament August 17 at Glenn Abby where teams from all over Canada will compete with proceeds going to the Mentally Re- tarded. The Tartan team won the national tournament last year so the members will be working to defend their title. Sunnybrae tournament organizer Terry Kelly said Saturday's event was again a financial success with more than $10,000 being raised for the mentally retarded. Low gross honours were captured by George Burnett of Port Perry who fashioned a one over par 72. And the team of George, Gary Edgar, Grant Menzies and Dick Shinn of Port Perry finished with a 19 under par best ball score for second place. Even the weatherman co- operated for this year's tournament, with just a brief shower in the morning and another late in the day.
