by Jackie Boyle I am sorry to report that Mr. John Venner passed away quietly at his home last week. Funeral services were held in Port Perry on Monday. Sincere sympathy is extended to his family and friends. Ron Bassett of Bassett's Small Engines fame, is now home after a stay in the Oshawa General Hospital. Here's hoping that the doctor was as good at repairing as Ron is. Seagrave Mission Sunday will be marked next Sunday, May 31. Greenbank Sunday School Anniversary will be celebra- ted on Sunday June 7 at 11 a.m. Pinedale Sunday School Anniversary will take place on Sunday June 14th at 11 a.m. Please take note that there will be no Sunday School at Seagrave on these two anniversary dates. The Brownies would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wanamaker who supplied ice cream treats for the girls and their leaders at a recent meeting. On Saturday May 23 the Cubs toured the Nonquon Conservation Area. Also on Saturday, a Beaveree for the Pineridge District was host- ed by Seagrave. Both events were apparently a big success. . For the past couple of Saturdays, members of the Seagrave Park Association gave of their time and efforts to install new fences and a new backstop at the park. A vote of thanks goes to those who contributed to this strenuous undertaking. Tickets are available from Park Board members. The annual open meeting of the Greenbank Seagrave Group Committee will be held at the Seagrave Church on Thursday May 28th at 7:30 p.m. Parents of children involved in scouting are urged to attend. The group committee needs your support. Seagrave 'Old Timers" baseball team won their season opener against Cambray to the tune of 13-5 on Sunday evening. Is this a sign of many more good things to come? Registration for swim- ming lessons will take place on June 13 at 2 p.m. at Bonnie Branton's pool. Canoists Darren Desautels and Kevin Haugen came in first at a race in Pembrooke on May 16 and were awarded a gold medal. They now qualify for the National Marathon Canoe Race whieh will be held this year i Saskatoon, Sask. on August 1 on the South Saskatchewan River. A warm welcome to our neighbourhood is extended to Mr. and Mrs. William Innes. They have moved into Mrs. Dorothy Augustus home recently, in the Robinglade Estates.
