In Grade 7 - front row, Lynda Sutton, Gilford Quakenbush and Glen DeGeer. ~ In the Grade eight class; winners were: front row, Eric Kiezebrink, John 'Back row, Tracy Coeper, Jay VanCamp, Rick Huntington, Brent McLaughlin, Stephanie Whitehead and Christina McLean. Shaw, lan Porter and Shawn Elliott. Back row, Amy Ware, Terry Berry, Raymond Haines, Debbie DeVries, and Karen Kyte. Cartwright Public School Cartwright Central Public School held its annual Science Fair for Grades 7 and 8 on April 13th and 14th. The judges, Mr. R. Scott and Mr. D. Mr. Larry Hoskin from Lake Louise is spending a . few days visiting his parents, Mr..and Mrs. Frank Hoskin; his many other relatives in the area. . The Snowmobile Club held a dance in the Recreation Centre on Saturday, April ~ 18th. Everyone who attended enjoyed themselves very much. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. George Bryant, Dwayne, Julie and Chris- topher were Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wyatt, Whitby; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Ormiston, Shelley and Diane; Mrs. Gail Precoor, Kelly and Kevin all of Brooklin, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Bray, Steven and Paul of Port Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Shymko, Port Hope and Mr. Shawn McGrath of Oshawa. On Tuesday April 14th the Public School students held their Annual Science Fair. It was an excellent success and many friends and parents viewed the informative fairs. Further details on the winners will be in next week's paper. Last week a local high school student, Howard Bailey received word that he had been accepted to participate in a 3-month long exchange with a student from Germany next year. This sounds like it will be a lot: of fun and we hope Howard will enjoy himself. Congratulations Howard! On Wednesday evening a number of our local students participated in the Annual Spring Swing Concert at the Port Perry High School. In front of a large audience of parents and friends, the 'Cartwright Singers, the Public School Choir, sang "the Rose" and "What Sahll We Do with the Drunken Sailor" accompanied b Mrs. W. Dixon. : Immediately after they sang, the Cartwright High "School Band conducted by Miss J. Howsam played "We've Only Just Begun" and '"Tomorrow." After groups from R.H. Cornish sang and played, the Cartwright Triple Three, a small group of girls from the Public School, sang "Mandy" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him" also accompanied by Mrs. W. Dixon. % As the final choir of the evening the Cartwright High stock and area School Choir, accompanied by Miss C. Carnaghan and conducted by Mr. R. Ashton sang '"'Ready to Take a Chance Again" and "Take Me Home Country Roads." All the local groups were met with great rounds of applause. As the grand finale all the choirs and bands, 450 voices and 220 instru- mentalists, sang "Annie's Song," "Can't Buy Me Love" and *'O Canada' conducted by Mr. L.P. Chellew. This finale was a great finish to the evening. Ra On Monday evening Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoskin and Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hoskin celebrated birthdays at Haugen"s of Manchester. Easter Sunday dinner guests of Mr. 'and Mrs. Harvey Graham, Mark and Rob were Mr. Larry Hoskin, Lake Louise; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hoskin, Nestleton; Mrs. Frances Boundey of Port Perry; Mr. and Mrs. Ron Hoskin, Craig, Shawn and Tracey; Mrs. Pat Fletcher, Diana and Scott; - Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelly, _Elizabeth, Eleanor, Elaine and Esther and Miss Cheryl Graham, all of Blackstock. Hoskin, attended the wedding of Mr. Brett Hoskin and Miss Patti Clark at the Kingdom Hall. Following the wedding they attended the dinner at the Richmond Hill Curling Club, Toronto. The afternoon group of the U.C.W. met at the home of Marion Larmer on Tuesday 'afternoon, April 14th at 1:15 p.m. After a delicious dessert luncheon, the leader, Aileen Byers began with a poem '"'Two Groups' followed by the.roll call - "An Easter Thought". Marion Larmer conducted a very worthwhile devotion that included two Easter hymns. The business consisted of the announcement of the approaching weddings and picnic. Dora Martyn gave-us a thumbnail sketch on the constitution. Some dis- cussion arose of this since none of us knew much about it.
