In the first game they met: Valley East of Sudbury who were the gold medal regional champs of Northern Ontario. Valley East got off to a quick start scoring three goals in the first period. The teams played even in the second period with four goals each. The final score was 7-4 for Valley East. In their second game early Saturday morning the Port Belles played Oro. Port got on the scoreboard first scoring at the 9 second mark, but Oro came right back 9 seconds later to tie it up. The first period became a seesaw battle with Oro ahead by a goal at the end of the period. In the period Port slowed to a crawl and Oro walked away with a 9-3 win. In the final game Port met the Oshawa team who won the gold medal at our own Regionals a few weeks ago. Coach Andrews and the girls were determined to prove they could play against top provincial teams. Oshawa won the game 6-1 but had to work for every goal. Both teams goaltending was excellent especially Michele Andrews for Port Perry. Sharon Ashmore who never left the ice in the game was a standout on defence. The Port Perry team although playing with only eight Belles and one Junior turned in a strong performance. Scoring for the three games was Rhonda White 5 goals, Bonnie Bridge 2 goals, Daphne Butt 1 goal and . ADULT SKATING: OPEN SKATING: "ROLLER SKATING" SCUGOG ARENA - 985-8698 STARTS SUNDAY. APRIL 26th.
