The fire department had requested money for a two storey addition on the south side of the hall with the ground floor used ds storage for a 'new' truck which arrived three weeks ago. Without the addition, the department will either have to find storage elsewhere for one of 'the older trucks, or give it up. The program, which is the joint under- taking of the Ontario Weekly Newspaper Asti ion and CP Air is aimed at recog- nizing young people who have performed acts of physical heroism; overcome dis- gbling physical or psychological handi- ~~ caps) made a meaningful contribution to personal family well-being; or have been involved in some worthwhile community -. service endeavour. When you think about it you'll realize that the exploits of our youth are almost daily occurances, and variably tell of the problems the youth of today are causing society. When compared to the worthwhile contributions that our young people con- -tinually make, but of which we read or hear very little, we soon realize that bad news geems to outweigh the good news. It is this unrecognized group of young Ontarians, of which there are many. in Scugog Township, that CP Air and the community newspapers across the pro- vince are concerned. The Ontario Junior Citizen of the Year Awards Program is open to both boys and girls, between the ages of six and 18 years, and will run from mid-March 1981 to December 1, 1981.
