16 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed., March 25, 1981 Kinsmen battle 'No-Stars' to 13-13 draw by Danny Millar The No-Stars hockey team from CKVR television in Barrie made a visit to the Scugog Arena Saturday, March 21, and its variety of antics and at times, reasonable hockey skill were put on display for hundreds of spectators, not to mention the Kinsmen Club of Port Perry, who provided the opposition. It was a typical benefit game which several elecronic media centers put on each year .. (CHUM radio comes to Port Perry every summer to compete in a softball game). They have a Harlem Globetrotter - like routine, using the same stunts repeatedly, always to a different and enthusiastic gathering. The No-Stars made their entrance wearing the orange and white uniforms, all of which were labelled with number "3", Barrie television station's channel. The Kinsmen wore the uniforms of the Port Perry MoJacks and two of its goaltenders donned the Little Britain Merchants jerseys, both local Junior C teams. The opening introductions were complete with fancy - skating and dives by players on both teams, the slapstick routines often seen at these types of games. One No-Star took a headlong dive across the center red line and was compared by the announcer to Toronto Maple Leaf defenceman Borje Salming, who is noted in the NHL for such actions. The wildest antic the visitors pulled during the evening came in the second period when they hauled out a football and created a center ice melee that involved players from both sides in a wild scramble for possession. The ball ended up being thrown into the CKVR net for six points. Another hunorous incident that occurred in the second period ended in a No-Star goal.
