The boys played a good hockey in all three games but lost out to Picton in overtime of the champion- ship final by a score of 3-2. In the first game against Belleville on Saturday, the boys came out skating. Craig Menzies scored an unassisted goal in the first period of this end to end contest. Belleville scored at the half way mark in the second. Port came storming back with 3 unanswered goals. Dave Burnett scored from Craig Menzies and Chris Lane. Lee Wilbur scored from Rob Baker and Greg Warrimer. Craig Menzies got his second goal of the game from Greg Warrimer and Dave Burnett. Final score Port Perry 4 Belleville 1. John Moore made several excellent saves to keep Belleville at one goal. Lee Wilbur received a medal for M.V.P of this game as chosen by the tournament committee. On Sunday morning at 9:00 a.m. the boys met Napanee. Port came out skating and shooting. - Port scored four unanswered goals in the first two period before Napanee could get on the score sheet. Robby Baker had 2 goals, - Craig Menzies had 2 goals and 1 assist. Dave Burnett and Greg Warrimer had 1 goal and 1 assist. Lee Wilbur and John Harmon each had one assist. Steven Whalen had a good game between the pipes. Andy Sytsma was presented with the medal for M.V.P. of this game. Back to the motel we all went to wait for the championship game - which XS DOR) OT . Picton tallied first but Port came right back with a goal from Jim White, assisted by David Culbert, and an unassisted goal on a good play by Greg Warrimer. Picton scored to tie the game 2, the third period went scoreless with Port having several good chances. The overtime was short but not so sweet as Picton scored on a good shot to win the tournament by a score of 3-2. John Moore played well in goal, as did all the rest of the boys on the team. Jim White received the medal for M.V.P. of the third game. The Pee Wee Legionaires ° are off to Goderich Friday March 20th for two days. If they win they will go back later in the week. Good Luck Boys!!! -- House League Hockey Results -- NOVICE HOUSE LEAGUE Scugog Realty 2 Reliable Plumbing 1 In the second game of this playoff series, Scugog Realty defeated Reliable Plumbing 2-1 in an exciting game. The Realtors now move on to the Novice final, having won the best of 3 games 2-0. In this match, the Realtors were first on the board with Jason Parson scoring from Richard Larocque at 1:37 of the first period. The Plumbers came back in the second period to tie the game at 1, with Mark Andrews potting one from Troy McCauley at 3:02. For the balance of the second period, and most of the third period, both teams played end to end. Both goaltenders came up with key saves and Ryan Free of Scugog and Rob Vanuden for Reliable are to be congratulated, when it appeared the game would wind up a draw. Parson and Larocque teamed up again with Parson netting the winner with 1:48 remaining on the clock. Kinsmen 2 Sportsland 2 Sportsland came up with an outstanding effort to keep their playoff hopes and force third game in their series with Kinsmen. Led by Greg Fitzgerald, Sportsland was first on the scoreboard, with Greg netting an unassisted market at 2:20 of the first period. Kinsmen's Jason Towns tied the match with 28 seconds remaining in the second period, assisted by Michael Sherratt. The rest of the period was close checking, with both goalkeepers making key saves. The final buzzer sounded with the teams 'deadlocked, forcing a third game on Sunday. Kinsmen 3 Sportsland 0 In a tight checking game, Kinsmen downed Sportsland 3-0, won their series, and now move on to the Novice final . against Scugog Realty. In this game, the strategy employed by Kinsmen appeared to be to keep Sportsland's Fitzgerald tied up. It worked well, as they didn't allow Fitzgerald to get loose. Kinsmen scored twice in the first period. Jason Towns netted one from Chris Forder at 2:56, then at the mid point, Jason Cochrane scored, assisted by Sean ~McEnaney and Michael Skerratt. The final marker of the game came at 7:18 of the third period, when Aaron Cochrane banged one in from Graham Sullivan. Sportsland are to be congratulated on a fine effort in this series. Dan Muldoon recorded the shutout for Kinsmen. PEE. WEE HOUSE LEAGUE Wes Lane 5 Lions Club2---- by Jeff Wray In the second game of the playoffs Wes Lane elimin- ated Lions Club. Scoring for - Wes Lane was Mike Brock 2 goals, Darrin Scala 1 goal and 2 assists, Todd Reams- bottom 1 goal and Todd Soomre 1 goal. Assists went to Craig Venning 2 assists and Darrin Frank 1 assist. Lions goals scored by Terry White 2 goals. Assists went to Kevin Cearns 2 assists. Glen Vallie 5 Frank 2 Glen Vallie kept the series alive with a 5-2 win over Frank. Scoring for Glen Vallie, Tim Maw 2 goals and 1 assist. Travis Adamecryk, Jeff Norten and Joe Forder tallied. Steven McEachern also received an assist. Frank's goals were scored by Dan Vernon with 1 goal, Glen Ash with 1 goal and a second assist. i HOUSE LEAGUE HOCKEY Swamp 1 UAWw.0 by Doug Moore Swamp Garage advanced to the Atom House League Finals by defeating U.A.W. by a score of 1-0. ~ .
