On Saturday, Feb- ruary 28, our Rebels cap- tured the LOSSA title and advanced to the COSSA tournament held on Satur- day, March 7. There they trounced the Kenner squad from * Peterborough and advanced to the COSSA finals - the highest obtain- able standing for juniors. Our guys -tried hard, but unfortunately, were unable to take the title. Neverthe- less, P.P.H.S. is very proud of them. The terrific school spirit and support at the game said it all! Kinsmen hold birthday bash by John Porter On the 21st of February 1981 the Kinsmen Club of Port Perry celebrated their 10th anniversary and life Member Night. Some of the highlights during dinner were the presentation of the ~ chain of office by Kinette President Barb Bradbury to President John Porter as a "10th anniversary gift to the Kinsmen Club. Charter 'Presidents Larry and Doreen Kendall recalled the past 10 years on the Kins- men's fund raising projects and achievements by the Port Perry Club. Bethesda Reach W.I. will meet at the Uxbridge Senior Citizens Club rooms on March 14th at 6:30 p.m. for a Pot Luck Dinner. Please bring your own cutlery and serving spoons. The dinner will be followed by a Silent Auction., Bring an item or two for this feature. This will be followed by Euchre and other games. Members will bring their husbands and a friend or neighbour. Congratulations to Port Perry Clarinet Quartette who won the award donated by Bethesda W.I. Mrs. W. Kerry attended a shower given for a niece in Bowmanville on Sunday afternoon. She was accom- panied by her mother of Port Perry, an aunt from Ux- bridge and a niece from Sunderland. Five of our local girls are away this week. They are members of the Port Perry High School band which is enjoying the balmy weather in British Columbia (we hope). Our girls are: Anne Tapscott, Donna Kerry, Jennifer Simmonds, Martha McCallum and Tracy Gourlie. Miss Deborah Rice has returned to Ottawa after being a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Brown for over a month. Deb's hobby is her horse which was being trained at the Bert Ross High Meadow Farm. Deb was also being trained in hand- ling and showmanship. Deb's home town is in California. The Browns are so happy this week as daughter Shelley of Victoria, B.C. coming home for a short visit. Several attended the World's Day of Prayer in Uxbridge Trinity Church. Epsom At Music Festival Congratulations to the students and teachers of ed boys voices aged 10 and under. Jason is in Grade 3 at Epsom School. Some former Epsom pupils from the Cornish School - Janis Evans, Kathy Sutcliffe, Valarie Douglas and Nancy Rudkin sang in. the winning R.H. Cornish SSA Choir which won the Legion Ladies Auxiliary award. Heidi Spannbauer of R.H. Cornish won with her clari- net solo. Port Perry High School has also benefit- ed from our Epsom group. In the winning Junior concert band. Those from Epsom participating were Mark and Glen Kerry, Rob Page, Julie Ashton, Harry Bolton, Susanne Huly and Janet Hofstee.. The staff of Epsom School would like to thank the parents for their support especially in transporting the children to the festival of Stars. A special thank you to Mrs. Coates from all of us. Janis Evans visited on Sunday with Grandma Evans. Several from the commun- ity attended the Holstein annual dinner and dance at Uxbridge Community Centre on Saturday evening. Don Card and children of Port Perry were supper guests with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Allen Card on Saturday. On Friday evening Kathy Monsma and son Bradley were with her parents for supper. Mrs. Ashton's ankle is improving very slowly. Mrs. Asling called on her on Wed- nesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Catherwood, Brian and Barry of Oshawa, were with Mr. and Mrs. Ashton on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Goslin had supper with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Goslin and Annette of Blackstock on Friday and with Mr. and Mrs. Gord Britton of Bally Duff on Sunday evening. Epsom-Utica Social Club will meet Saturday evening March 28 at Epsom Church for a Pot Luck Supper at 7:15 followed by a Travel evening with slides. Trinity Couple's Club have invited our group for an evening of square dancing on April 4th. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lewchuk and Leah of Wiarton had a week's holi- day so came to her parents' (Mr. and Mrs. Earl Wilson) home.
