An opportunity was provided for a dozen producers to initiate Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm's new van as a means of transportation. A sumptuous roast pork dinner was served by the Cambray ladies following which Vic- toria County Chairman of Pork Producers Mr. John Brown chaired the business session. This included a -financial report, a report from Mr. Howard Malcolm, chairman of the Ontario Pork Produc- ers and fellow Director Eric Alderson. Interesting statistics included that 390 hog producers in the county produced some 49,000 hogs - 250 producers produced less than 50 hogs, 106 produced between 50-500 and 33 pro- ducers provided between 500 and 3000 per annum. Ontario producers (13 per cent of Canada) -total its own requirements whereas Quebec depends on export to clear many of its 434 million -hogs produced. + The-Market Board oper- ates on a fee of $1.12 per hog at a break even level. The new slate of officers were elected as follows: Eldon Township-Vernon Brigon; Emily-Gordon Lauder; Fenelon-Charles Gilmour, Mariposa-Allan McKeown, Manvers-Floyd Stinson, Ops-Bryan Dickin- son, Verulam-Ralph White with Ed Bagshaw and Barry Sinclair directors' at large. Provincial representatives were Ron Pearson, Les Davidson, Jim Brown, and Howard Malcolm with Jack McNab as alternate. Suit- able music by the Wildwoods was provided for the dance that followed. Deepest sympathy is extended to our niece Mrs. Brenda Haynes, her daugh- ter Annette and son Anthony of Nestleton in the passing of a loving husband and father after an extended illness. Aylwin was an excellent auto mechanic and together with wife Brenda operated' a service station on 7A high- way at the east end of the Cartwright-Scugog cause- way. The presence of such a large attendance at his funeral was a genuine indi- cation of Aylwin's popularity with a wide number of friends. By unfortunate coincidence Aylwin died on their 16th wedding annivers- ary; to his advantage he packed a lot of living in his brief life span of only 37 years. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Malcolm of Don Mills held a birthday party for our venerable Uncle Mr. Roy Wright of Islington who was observing a special mile- stone. Among those present were our hosts and their family, the guests of honour, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Fick of Pickering, Mrs. Emma Malcolm of Uxbridge, Corrie Harvey, Mona and Marti Malcolm of Yelverton. Yelverton U.C.W. held a successful Bake Sale in Lindsay Square on Saturday Feb. 14th raising a tidy sum for their treasury. Our April in February weather, although enjoyed to the full by all and sundry may be throwing a curve to Mother Nature's fledglings. On Thursday, Feb. 19th we counted around 40 Canadian Geese (we may have missed a few) honking their way overhead neither north nor south, but in an easterly direction. Eddie, our baker man reports having seen a couple of Robins as well. The, migrants and the crows are revelling in our early Spring. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Malcolm attended a Pork Producer function in Kempt- ville and were overnight guests in that area this week. new Shur-Gain Shur-Gain Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic in 100 mg concentration.
