a Durham Police officers had their hands full Saturday afternoon sorting out a six car accident which occurred on Regional Road seven about three o'clock. Although no serious in- juries resulted from the chain-reaction accident, three of the drivers involved are facing charges. - Police report that all six cars were southbound on Regional Road 7 when one car hit another, sending it Six car crash into the rear of another one. As of Monday morning the police investigation was not completed. There was no estimate of the damage available. A new venture by the 23 employees is the field of furniture shipp- ing. This has been going on for several months and, by all reports from happy customers, is most success- ful. Various companies have been most supportive and have given us contract work which keeps everyone very busy at a variety of jobs. The outcome of all this productivity was that for 1980 we were able to make our share of the operating budget for the workshop. Life at the residence is full and happy. The highlight of the Christmas season was a buffet dinner party held by the residents on Dec. 19 tor families and friends. A most enjoyable time was had by all thanks to the efforts of the hosts and hostesses. On the 25th everyone was happy to be able to celebrate at home with their families. Central Seven Association is once again in need of volunteers. If you have some time you could give us please let us know. In one area we have a specific need. We urgently need someone who is willing to drive a handicapped person from south of Peffer- law to either Port Perry by 8:20 or Oshawa by 9 a.m. and back home at day end Mon- day to Friday. That was the chant students heard most teachers reciting at the beginning of last week as exams rolled around. - The - exams. 'started last Thursday and will run until the end of this week. If there is a snow day during the week the exams scheduled for that day will be post- poned until the following Monday. A drive is beginning for our Senior Wind Ensemble to help finance their trip to Coquitlam, British Colum- bia, this March. The federal government is sponsoring part of the trip but $7000 has to be raised to make up the balance. Howard Hall is the chairman of the drive which begins with an auction at the High School on February 21. The students from Centen- nial High School will be arriving Saturday, February 7, and visiting various places in the area during their week-long stay. Our own students will be leaving on March 7. Any aspiring orators wish- ing to make some money as well as some practical experience should see Mr. Brandon. Although the seniors and midgets lost, the juniors, in an exciting game, beat their opponents 54-19, keeping. them _scoreless during the entire third quarter. Congratulations, team.
