Brian Callery of the Kins- _men Club told council that members want to get the mud and sand off the con- crete pad immediately, or there could be problems when it comes time for flood- ing. He also asked for permission to put a snow fence around the pad to keep cars off until flooding. Coun- cil agreed to both requests. The only problem left to be cleared up is the question of legal liability since the site is owned by the Township. Scugog's insurance agent is now looking into the matter to determine if the standard liability policy will cover an open air public rink. Mr. Callery said the Kins- men members will be ready to start flooding once the insurance question has been resolved and the weather turns cold. MONTHLY WITHA GENEROUS PURCHASE OPTION! Library meeting (From page 1) action could be dirty and long, drawn-out affairs, and I doubt that this kind of action is something that the Library Board or the council wants to get involved in," he said. "I hope the meeting on Thursday will help us reach some kind of mutual conclu- sion about improved library services for the commun- ity," he said. © Mr. Preston also asked that the new council re- confirm the $100,000 finan- cial commitment to expand ed library services made by the previous council, and later in the meeting, the seven members of the new council agreed unanimously to a resolution from council- lors John Williams and Robert Espey which did just that. Still later in the meeting, the library issue was raised once again by area council- lor Don Crosier who said that a phone call he received a week ago greatly upset him because the caller suggested to him that "if the furnace in~ the library blows up, the death of children will be on my shoulders." Councillor Crosier de- clined to name the caller except to say it was a person he knows and respects. Councillor Crosier asked what kind of maintenance and service the furnace has had over the past five years. Mayor Taylor, who is a member of the Library Board, replied that the furnace is old, but checked thoroughly on a regular basis, and the local fire department has inspected the building as well. Stating again that the nature of the phone call he received "upset me great- 5 ly," councillor Crosier said "he would-be satisfied-with a full report on the library furnace at the library board - council meeting slated for this Thursday night.
