They bowed 5-3 to Stouffville on Novem- ber 3 and were pummelled 9-3 the next evening by Oshawa. The Oshawa team was that city's major Midget 2 team, in effect the second best Midget team 'in all of Oshawa, And they looked it. They had a strong skating team, with effective fore- checkers to pressure Port defencemen. They were adept at breaking up Port plays before they got started and they were too quick for anyone to hit squarely. Oshawad"s first goal came as a result of its ability to keep Port hemmed in. Sean Fewer and Keith Trembley could not clear the puck, allowing Dave Rockburne to. score after 23 seconds. Pacers managed to keep up with Oshawa through the first period but they were down a goal when it ended. Howard Lee, up from the first of his two goals with 8:50 to go and defenceman Todd Blayone followed his DRADER EAR AR own slap shot in from the' point and scored on the rebound. Bob Warren scored the first marker of his three goal hattrick when he rolled a wrist shot past a struggling Ken Harman in the Port nets. Port got that power play score back when Lee took a pass in from Blayone to score with 4:55 remaining. Gord Zimmerman and Warren completed the Oshawa scoring. Dave Mahaffey led the Stouffville attack with two goals while Glenn Lewis, Barry Greenshield and Barry Smith picked up singles. Port opened the scoring at 2:04 of the first period when Jamie Lane slugged a rebound past goalie John Garrick on assists by Paul Storry and Blayone, - Lewis tied it up with 3:26 to go and Kevin Long in the penalty box for, holding | "Bantam team; scored the pu Center Mahaffey won a dregy in the Pacers' end and got it back to Lew's, who blasted a slap shot into the net. Mahaffey got Stouffville's second power play goal, this time with Wallace off iy charging, on a second peri rebound. Long got enough on the puck to redirect it past Garrick after 'a shot by Wallace 2:02 into the frame. The visitors took the lea when Greenshield knock his own rebound in behind Clay Lovering and then expanded it to 4-2 when Mahaffey outdistanced Long and Kevin Trapp down the left wing and slipped in a wrist shot from the boards® Steve Lee deflected a knee high slap shot by McKee from the point with 4:11 remaining to make it inter- esting. Port had another chance when Stouffville was called for charging after Trapp was levelled with 2:63- left in the fast paced contest. They couldn't pull it off, though, as Smith scored an empty net goal after Storry lost 'possession bringing it out of his own end with 1:05 left.
