a Ton 0 Horticultural Society fall meeting 4 'Valerie by Margaret Beath On October 22, the Brooklin = - Horticultural Society gave the festive season an early start with a demonstration on Christmas decorations. The meeting was opened at, 8:20 p.m. by President Hundert, who welcomed about 60 people including guests from Cambray, Ashburn, Whitby and Oshawa. Correspondence was read by Margaret Beath, followed by Margaret Davis with the Treasurer's report and Carolyn Stevens who advised that there are now 155 members. . The President then extend- ed her appreciation to the twelve members who, on Monday, October 20 had undertaken the clean-up job of the civic plantings. The hard working crew adjourn- ed to Marg. Beath's for lunch after which Rene Thiebaud instructed the group in pruning evergreens. Joan Brak then introduced the speaker for the evening. Anyone looking at the High School on Friday would have had the impression that it was being invaded by extras from a Boris Karloff movie. The halls were filled with monsters of all descriptions. The highlight of the day was a dance in activity period during which the two best costumes were chosen. Dave Van Weston as Frank- enstien's Monster complete SPORTS NEWS In sports all three girls basketball teams played Donavan. last Monday. Though the Juniors were defeated, the seniors won sixty to forty-two and the midgets, in an exciting over- time game, beat the oppos- ing team thirty-three to thirty-two. The boy's volleyball teams played in the LOSSA west semi finals last week. The seniors placed fifth and the juniors, who came in third, will advance to the finals. with green skin, and Melanie 'Good luck team! Bruce as a half man, half 'woman took the honours. AFINALNOTE Both will receive free passes to the next dance. The rest of the day was spent dodging the assorted clowns, vampires, and Charlie Chaplins. It was an excellent and well spirited turnout.
