It was an interesting exper- ience for everyone. There are people on the Island who like to say that there was a time when they knew every family on the Island. But this is not so any more, In scanning thro' the new telephone directory it is interesting to note many new names and changes from last year. However the number of listed numbers has only increased from 554 to 558 which must mean a levelling off of new homes being built or more unlisted. Don't forget to call Mrs. Williamson for tickets for the Sadie Hawkins dance on November 15 at the Com- munity Hall, there has been some confusion re the lunch boxes. Therefore, it "has been decided that the ladies are asked to pack enough for herself and escort. If there are singles, it may be that they should pack enough for two, in hopes that there will be someone to share it with. Any later discussions will be passed on. Believe me, by sharing with your escort, you miss a lot of fun, if they are auctioned off. The box socials of former years still stick in my mind. But then many circumstances were different. . Don't forget choir practice on Thursday for Juniors and Seniors. Welcome to the new members who are joining up. On Sunday, it was noted that more children are being brought to the Sunday School Rev. Linstead's story for the children told them how smiles can be like echoes. His message to the adults drew attention to previously unconsidered class distinct- ionin North America and our own midst. Be Next Sunday the Guides and--Brownies= with=their- leaders and parents will attend the Island church to witness the dedication of their new flags. Show your support and interest by attending and get an inspir- ation for yourself. Mr. Morven Hughes has returned home after a week in hospital with some surgery and pnuemonia. Mrs. Morven - Hughes' brother, Don Fox, of Ontario Motor sales in Oshawa had a very unpleasant experience on Friday when an apparent genteel couple high jacked him for a car, beat him and left him on the side of the road. Outward appearances don't always prove that you can trust people. Mr. and Mrs. Oxley of Port View Beach have moved to Port Perty. We trust Mrs. Audrey Archer will soon get more comfort from her treatments in a Toronto hospital. - -We understand there are more than little children who enjoy Hallowe'en pranks as we learn about the six mysterious ladies of the Head who surprised several neighbours with their calls in original costumes. Jr. Farmers (From page: 35) beef, swine, and sheep operations. They were chosen by staff of the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food. At each farm, a local ministry official will intro- duce the farmer to the young people. The farmer will then explain why his operation works successfully. The young farmers will also visit the Royal Agricul- tural Winter Fair in Toronto and a packing plant. The Junior Farmers' Live- stock Management Tour is an annual event. Last year, farms in central Ontario were visited. There are more than 7,000 Junior Farmers across Ontario. The organization operates education and social programs for rural young people, aged 15 to 29. AY ¥ ER Fe.
