| Prince e Albert and area news by Earlene Armstrong Prince Albert Hall was the scene of activity of Tuesday evening October 28, when the U.CW. ladies put on a fashion show with the help of Donna Bradley of Chandelle Fashions ffom Oshawa. A number of door prizes were won, the lucky ladies were Velva Marshell from Lindsay, Cheryl Feasby, , Jean Johnston, Jan Jackson, Agnes Haugen and Leslie Rideout, who drew her own name. Claire Plume won the .$25,00 door prize, donated by Chandelle Fashions Ltd. After an hour and a half of viewing the fall and winter fashions, dessert and tea were served by the U.C.W. Now that's what I call being a real good neigh- bour. On Sunday, November 2, Judy Olaisen took her boys Ricky and Mikey to see the famous Eaton Santa Claus parade in Toronto. Dad is away deer hunting that is why he didn't join in. Louisa Vanravenswaay enjoyed her first Hallowe'en night out, guided by mom for one hour, she had enough treats to share with her brother Martyn. Ihad a tiny bunny come to the door for his first Hallo- we'en, didn't say much but didn't refuse the treats either. Had the initials G.B. on him. To help Martyn celebrate he had nana and poppa, (Mr. and Mrs. G. Hill) come for supper. Mom made him a Hallowe'en birthday cake and all enjoyed it. He received many birthday wishes for his first year on earth, all and all ended a perfect day. Betty Deeth left on Thurs- day for Alberta to visit her daughter Lynn. ' The many tests and assignments due this week show that the teachers are rushing to get our marks in for our Novem- ber report cards. There are only three days left for those people wishing to enter the yearbook contest for 1981. The deadline is this Friday, October 31. There are three great prizes to win. We had a very successful Sadie Hawkins dance last Friday. The girls were able to choose their dates. The Music Department is awaiting an answer to a loan request, They plan to partic- ipate in an exchange with some music students from British Columbia. A group of students from grades ten to thirteen attended a play at the Stratford Festival. They saw Shakespeare's Twelfth Night". It was an all-day excursion. The students left the school at 9:00 and returned to the school at 8:30 p.m. The play was enjoyed by everyone. Eleven grade 13 students visited Queen's University in Kingston last Wednesday. All "the students were impressed by the university. It was a fun trip. SPORTS NEWS Congratulations to $he Senior Girls Basketball team who beat Central with a score of 55-52 on Monday, October 20. Both the Juniors and Midgets lost their games, although they played well. The Boys soccer team finished their season last week. In spite of their great effort they did not qualify for LOSSA. The girls basketball teams played against Done- van on Monday. Scores for this game will be given in next week's column. P.P.H.S. would like to wish _ everyone a safe and fun Hallowe'en. Christmas candle sale to defray operating costs Again this year, the" Port Perry Parent's Association is staging -a-- Christmas - candle sale to raise funds to defray the operating costs of the Scout and Guide Hall. The Association is made up of the families that make use of the Scout and Guide Hall. These families will begin the sales campaign this week '(October 27-31) with a wrap-up during. the week of November 17-21. Candles will be delivered by December 5, 1980. The candles come in-a lovely set of 8 designs that will cast a cozy glow throughout the Christmas season. The cost is a com- petitive $5.00. This year, a new wrinkle has been folded into the campaign. Sale organizer Rick Hay- wood explains, "As a special incentive to promote sales, we will have a lucky draw with a top prize of a 12" black and white television set and a number of other prizes.
