» Beavers Awarded October 15 was a big night for the Port Perry Beavers as about 40 of them received their coloured tails. With leader Bill McCullough is five-year old Todd Smart, who's obviously pleased with his new tail. Port Perry High School roundup by Claudia Liebscher This week was certainly an enjoyable one at Port High. This -was due primarily to the fact that it was only a four-day week. People came back from the holiday week- ®ud with visions of colourful leaves, friendly relatives, good foods, and unfortunate- ly rain. The majority also came back with an extra five pounds and left-over turkey sandwiches in their lunch .ebags. Despite the four day week, many exciting things happ- ened for our school athletes. The girls' basketball team played a good game against Bowmanville on Wednesday, owever, they lost 49-45. The girls' field hockey team left Port on Friday to play Dun- barton, O'Neill, and Henry Street High. Unfortunately, they lost these games too, but all the girls felt that they were good games. .o- Wedid have one victorious competition. Our "Cross Country Team" competed in LOSSA. They placed sixth and are going on to compete in Norwood. Mr. Crocker has picked his gcast for the annual dramatic production in spring. The play is called '"Doctor in the House" and it is, apparently, very funny. After rigorous tryouts, he picked Chris Dormer, Marc Tapper, Rob Wood, Sean Twomey, Sarah Twomey, Ed Deckert, Martha McCallum, Megan Denby, and Andrea MacGregor for his cast. Mrs. Quail sent her Grade 13 students back to the public school this week. Was this a punishment for misbe- haviour? No, the Grade 13's are simply studying the effects of the school system on young children, and are spending their mornings there to study such effects in more detail. We ended this week with a "sucker sale". (Yet more calories) to support our yearbook. Next week many of our students will be gone. Some are visiting various univer- sities in Ontario, and others are travelling to Stratford on the Avon to see the Shakes- pearean play, 'Twelfth Night". Happy travelling to all who are leaving Port next week and stay tuned for the next column to find out all the fascinating events that "are happening at "Good ol' Port High." Mildred Puck- rin reports that the autumn colours were superb and heightened the enjoyment of their trip. The Greenbank Seagrave Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had a very successful Apple Day on Saturday. After the boys had visited the homes in 'wishes, the area, they were treated to hot dogs and hot choco- late.
