The District Health Coun- cil received a report in June from Consultants Peat Marwick and Company which recommended major changes in the delivery of hospital services, Proposals to close obstet- rical units in Port Perry, Uxbridge and Bowmanville are being opposed by local residents, and another recommendation, that the Dr. J.0. Ruddy Hospital become the basis for the redeveloped Whitby Psychi- atrict Hospital, has already been turned down by Ontario Health Minister Dennis Timbrell. "The decision to hold public meetings was made by the Council at the request of the hospitals last spring," said Tom Edwards. Mrs. Martyn has recently attended the Oberammergan passion play in Germany and she gave a very inspiring talk and also showed beautiful slides of her trip and many scenes of the play. It is very interes- ting that because of the plague and a pledge to God that this play has been given in Oberammegan every ten years for a long, long time.
