In 200 C.C. expert class Kelly Goreski wins Enduro Cyclehonours Kelly Goreski, of Ashburn, won first place in 200 cc expert class at the Canadian National Enduro Champion- ship in Haliburton on the weekend of Sept. 6 and 7. During this running of the 27th Annual Corduroy Enduro, Goreski rode a 1980 175 Kawasaki KDX sponsor- ed by Dennis Irwin of Mobi- lawn, Uxbridge. The event attracted 290 riders from Canada and United States. The Cross Country Course covered 251km on Saturday and 209km on Sunday. The course consisted of rock strewn, near vertical hills, bottomless mud pits, tight trails, highspeed fireroads, and river crossings. To cover the course each day required approximately six hours of highspeed riding. In this type of racing, just finishing the course in con- sidered gn accomplishment. Goreski managed to finish inspite of a bent sprocket, broken speedometer and having to ride the final 20 km with a flat front tire. Beside winning the National Championship, he is also tied for first place in the Ontario Points Race, in his class, with three races left in the season. Bob Kendall, of Port Perry was also among the 160 finishers, placing twelfth in Open Senior, having just returned to racing after suff- ering a broken leg. Kevin Willis, also of Port Perry, was doing quite well, until his front wheel was destroy- ed during an argument with a large rock. The Association was formed almost two years ago to allow kids with mental and physical handicaps to get expert instruction in riding and enjoy this popular sport.
