Tillie and Jack Burnham have served us faithfully for 8 or 9 years and delivered the mail thro' all kinds of weather. Now, upon their retirement, we wish to express our appreciation and extend best wishes for many happy relaxed years ahead for them. During this time, the Island population has greatly increased and many names are new, and include many families with the same name such as Davis, Brown, Smith, Love and others. This adds to mix ups and confus- ion if first names and defin- ite locations are not included in the address. Starting this week, Mr. Joe Dowson with the help. of his wife Carla is taking over the route. It will be difficult for awhile and they will need your patience and under- standing. Once they become familiar with the work, we can be just as sure of their efforts to please. Clara has recently retired from her several years of work with ~ Hank's Bakery, where her position has been found diffi- cult to fill. The owners and staff gave her a retirement party with a dinner and presentation of a lead crystal fruit bowl. : The Brownies will have a registration night at the Island Hall from 7 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 8.
