by Mabel Cawker Wedding Anniversary Celebrated On Saturday evening, Aug- ust 16, neighbours and friends gathered at the Nestleton Community ® Centre to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of Walter and Irma Wells. Master of ceremonies was son Mr. Rayer Wells and guest speakers were daught- er Mrs. Barb Pereman, fell- ® ow scouter Mr. Butch Latta and fellow worker Mr. Dick Crouter. After the conclusion of the speech making the honoured couple had the first dance, which was followed by the » other guests participating, the music being supplied by B7H Sound of Oshawa. Later a delicious buffet lunch was served and the cake cutting ceremony performed. Beautiful cards, gifts and a ¢ sum of money were received by Walter and Irma. The celebration was attended by approximately 100 guests from Nestleton, Port Perry, Blackstock, Columbus, Greenbank, Sea- & grave, Beaverton, Oshawa and Toronto, a highly suc- cessful and enjoyable occas- | LB = The following day the family had a quiet celebrat- ion at the home of Walter and & Irma at Nestleton. A stirling silver tea and coffee service was presented to them by son Rayner, his wife Kathy and their daughter Nicole and by daughter Barb, her husband Ron and their daughter Lisa. ™ Congratulations and very best wishes to Walter and Irma from a host of neigh- bours and friends for many more wonderful years to- gether. Open House * The Durham. Region "Horseback Riding for the Handicapped Association will be holding its second annual Open House at Hoskin Stables on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 2 p.m, This program has been operating for 18 months, .. offering riding instruction to handicapped children ages 4-18. Anyone interested is invited to attend the Open House to see our riders dis- play their skills. Refresh- ments will be served. Rideathon The Durham Region Horseback Riding for the Handicapped is holding a Rideathon on Saturday, Sept 20th, starting from Hoskin Stables at Blackstock. Trophies will be awarded to the individual rider with the highest earnings and to the group or stable with the highest earnings. All riders will receive crests. Canadian National Winners At the Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto, Claire -and---Leslie- MacKenzie, daughters of Janice and Richard MacKenzie were the lucky winners with many prizes re their ponies. As follows: 5 firsts, 1 fourth, 1 fifth, 1 Junior Harness Pony and the Grand Champion- ship with 3 ponies. Charles Scott, son of Gloria and Ian Scott, of Corbyville, assisted in the fancy dress class acting as the Groom. At Blackstock Fair, Claire won 1 first and 1 second with her pony, "Doc" under the saddle class. Congratulations to Claire, Leslie, and Charles for a fine showing. These youngsters are grandchildren of Leone and Ralph Sadler of Neslte- ton. Nestleton area news Caesarea Euchre Results First prize winner, Mild- red Quantz with a score of 84 2nd-Lou Bandel with a score of 82, Low-Carl Gimb- lett with a 44. Weekly draw- Doris Nottingham-52. A splendid turnout, folks are really interested in the week- ly euchres. Next week at the same place, Caesarea community Centre, 8 p.m. for fun and perhaps a covet- ed prize. Try to attend. Auction Sale Several members of Order of Eastern Star from Cart- wright assisted with the sale of food at the all day William Carnegie Auction Sale held in Port Perry on Thursday last. Interesting Fair Congratulations! to our neighbouring village of Blackstock for a very suc- cessful 115th fair. It was a rural oriented fair. Many and varied were the interests fun and activities for all ages. Excellent weather pre- vailed with a very large crowd in attendance and it was great to see so many local folk participating in the many different features of the Fair. Nestleton United Church On a fine Sunday morning service at 11:15 a.m. with a good attendance and many "visitors present Rev. Victor Parsons chose, 'They Will Know" as theme for his message reading Bible passages I John 4: 7-21 and John 13: 31-35. In the choir Miss Lorinda Jackson of Caesarea sang the beautiful sacred number "Morning has Broken". Lor- inda is taking vocal lessons and has a pleasing voice, a gifted singer who should go far.
