"Many people confuse rag- weed and goldenrod because they flower at the same time - early August to late Sept- . ember," says Dr. Jack Alex, environmental biologist at the University of Guelph. "Only ragweed causes hay fever." Unlike the bright yellow flowers of goldenrod, rag- weed blooms are inconspic- --tious spikes of tiny green flowers. Common ragweed is characterized by finely divided green leaves.
