These were the parting words at our Christmas party on Friday afternoon. We were saying so long at the end of a very successful playground prog- ram. However the promise was left for a bigger and better program next summer. During our Christmas party, we alternately feasted and fested! We enjoyed a lollipop and jelly bean scramble. Then in a sports- manship challenge we attempted old favourites like - the three legged race, the elbow lock and the wheel- barrow race. By the end, the "Mr. Freezes' provided the cooling down which was greatly needed. Our Christmas gift of a trip to Lindsay Thursday after- noon to see the play, "The Haunted Castle" was thor- oughly enjoyed. For several minutes we were all shiver- ing in our seats until we found out that the ghost was really very. friendly. The _ "same evening we joined with the other playgrounds to produce Exhibition 80. Again it was a : success, enjoyed by all, if the songs and crafts demonstrated are any indication our township should become famous for its' talent. 1 would like to extend a big thank you to all the children who came this year. Togeth- er we had a terriffic time. As well I want to thank the many parents who frequent- ly showed their support in many ways. However, the program would not have been so successful without the help of Susan Doupe, Heather McDougall, Mary Rose and Todd Blayone. And not to be forgotten, our co- ordinator, Christina Rollo. Have a good year, and we will see you next year. - SCUGOG ISLAND During our final week of playground, all those who participated enjoyed them- selves with the various activ- ities involved. Between stuffing our faces at Mac Donalds (as we celebrated Kari's birthday), and at our Christmas dinner (complete with turkey and all the options), we did manage to squeeze in a little bit of exercise at our weckly swimming and rollerskating outings. The kids enjoyed a very special treat, a ride on Sheba's ponycart. Thanks is extended to Mrs. Ross for providing this super exciting journey. - The children also spent this week practising for their vole in Exhibition '80. The parents at the Scugog Island Playground have been very helpful and supportive and we'd like to take this oppor- tunity to thank you for your Gas Going Up? One Very Good Answer. This summer has been very successful and we hope that the children and parents are pleased with the pro- gram. We hope to see everyone next year at play- ground! Special thanks to Sandra Irvine who was very helpful during Tracy Bongard's ill- ness. We hope that Tracy will be feeling better soon. GREENBANK by Pat Bolton Well that's it for this summer! Six enjoyable weeks have passed us by at Greenbank Playground. Last week was Christmas week which was enjoyed by all. On Monday we enjoyed a refreshing swim and on Tuesday, we travelled to the Ontario Science Centre with Seagrave Playground. Everyone said it was a "great" day. Letters were written to Santa, a chimney was made and children hung their stockings, a Christmas tree "was decorated and a party ended the week. As well as jelly bean races (being push- ed by the nose), balloon races, potato on spoon races, the children enjoyed "throw the sponge at the leaders". Friday was a terrific day and way to end the six weeks at playground - it was desir- ed by all! Our Art Show last Thurs- day was well attended. Everyone had a good time. To all those who took part, a great effort! At this time I would like to thank the children, parents, and community for the support they gave to the playground. It was appre- ciated. Thank you. SEAGRAVE by Sharon Wallace Our last week of play- ground was a busy one for everyone. Monday we enjoy- ed a swim at Birdseye Pool. Tuesday was spent at the Ontario Science Centre and was an interesting exper- ience for all. Thanks to Connie Carr, Debbie Chias- son and Heather Jeffery for offering their time to act as chaperones for the trip. Wednesday our little artists did sand painting and came up with some attractive results. Thursday was spent in preparation for Play- took place that evening at the Latcham Centre and was, by all reports, a tre- mendous success. Our young singers and actors deserve a round of applause for making the night exciting and unforgettable. If you are eligible, complete the application and return it as quickly as you can. Your Grant will soon be on the way. These Property Tax Grants of up to $500 help offset municipal and school taxes for Ontario' Senior Citizens. There is also a Sales Tax Grant of $50 each for every senior citizen starting in 1980. For seniors, these Grants replace Ontario Tax Credits pre- viously claimed by filing income tax returns. TAX GRANTS @ If you rent, your grant will total 20% of your rent or $500, whichever is less. @ If you own your principal residence your grant will equal the amount of your property taxes or $500, whichever is less. @ If you share your home with anyone other than your spouse, the grant will be apportioned accordin tax paid. EXCEPTIONS: Only one grant will be paid to a married couple or to unmarried seniors sharing accommodation.
