Espley A year's work was on display at the Masonic Hall in Port Perry on Saturday June 7th. The members of the Louise Patterson Handi- craft Guild proudly exhibited their many crafts and people came from as far away as Toronto, Hamilton, Peter- borough and Port Hope just to see the show. Florence Smith was in charge of the quilts and afghans. A beautiful "Tree of Life" was set up on frames so that, with the help of Lillian Harper and Gladys Butt, she could demonstrate exactly how a quilt is made - and how creatively satisfy- ing it is to design and execute such a work of art. Marjorie Williams, with the help of other rug-hookers arranged a very attractive hooking display. There were rugs of all styles, pictures, wall-hangings and novelties that showed the great range and expertise of the local group. Another large display was that of needlepoint pictures of all sizes. They could all be hung and seen to their best advantage against the warm, wood panelling of the Hall. A fourth display was that of buttons from the collection of Verena Sanderson. Mrs. Sanderson both collects and decorates buttons. Although the display covered one wall and a table, it was just a tiny fraction of her collection. Filling in the gaps and rounding out the edges of the exhibition were all kinds of other .crafts-weaving, crocheting, knitting, embroidery, decoupage, quilling, ceramics, dolls, leatherwork, oil-painting...... Many others helped in preparing -the exhibition and in the smooth running of the show. SALE J) Skyrocket Juniper-Reg. 9.99 ...... .... . .. Although the crowd was down somewhat from last year, organizers were happy with the turnout. «Among those demonstrating crafts at the Guild"s annual show were Rose Heron, seen here making a '"God's Eye cushion" and at right, Edda Bowman, working on Decoupage. People attending the Louise Patterson show on Saturday were not only able to watch demonstrations of craft works, but also were able to purchase items made by the members during the past year. Above, from left, sales clerks Rose Willoughby, Irene Masters and Verna Littlefield attend the table with many of the Guild's creations. RY TNS Ln A.
