DON'T use your transmission as a brake, feeding gas with the car in gear. To maximize miles-per-gallon performance, don't neglect the little things. Coach Ted Culbert and manager Garry Geer have only three players returning from last year's.team, but the remainder of the team have all had some experi- - ence in the house league and by the end of the season they should be a good competitive club. The Squirts should have a better test this Thursday night at 6:30 when they host the King City Squirts, who should be one of the better clubs in the league. The local team goes right back into action on Saturday when they play a double header with East Guillim- bury, game time 1 p.m. at the Lakefront park. Fisheries to conduct a creel census on Scugog This summer the Kawartha Lakes Fisheries Assessment Unit of the Ministry of Natural Resourc- es will be conducting creel census studies on Lake Scugog and Canal Lake from May until September. The purpose of these studies is to monitor the recreational fisheries on the two lakes. Anglers will be contacted by a team of two resource technicians, who will record the anglers place of resi- dence, numbers and sizes of fish caught, length of time spent fishing, etc. Data collected over the study period will enable fisheries staff to estimate the total fishing pressure and fish harvest, and to recom- mend wise management practices for the lakes. Anglers can help make this study a success by giving the creel census team their full co-operation, should they be contacted on the lake this summer.
